Lumsen Cup: Coill Dubh 4-0 Corbans Celtic
Corbans Celtic bowed out of the Lumsen Cup following a 4-0 defeat to Senior side Coill Dubh, but the scoreline did not fully reflect the chances created by the away side as they faced tough competition.
Corbans started brightly and were unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet, striking the woodwork twice during the contest. Tommy Fennessy came close to breaking the deadlock with a fine effort, while Adam O'Sullivan Aidy Thomas and Chris Cooke also threatened on occasions but could not find the net as Corbans struggled to turn promising opportunities into goals.
Despite creating numerous chances throughout the game, Corbans lacked conviction in front of goal and were left to rue a series of missed opportunities. The absence of several key players also appeared to take its toll, with the depleted squad unable to recover once Coill Dubh took control of the match.
There were, however, some standout individual performances. Tommy Fennessy produced an excellent display, working tirelessly throughout the game, as did Chris Cooke and Aidy Thomas while Captain Alan Coady was also impressive with a strong all-round performance for Corbans Celtic.
Ultimately, Coill Dubh proved clinical when their chances arrived and deserved their 4-0 victory, advancing to the next round of the competition.
Everyone at Corbans Celtic wishes Coill Dubh the very best of luck in the remainder of the Lumsen Cup.
