This month we celebrate 6 years in business. This coincides nicely with the publication of a new study that shows the effectiveness of strength training and extending your life expectancy.

Since DB Strength and Performance's opening our ethos has been set on encouraging people to engage in structured Strength and Conditioning training over 2 to 3 days per week. Studies show this where the most effective benefits happen with Strength Training and you don't need to spend every day in the gym. We have implemented this for people of all ages, shapes and abilities and our members have enjoyed the benefits. Over the next few weeks we will be running a series where you can hear the first hand experiences of those attending DB Strength and Performance.

Let us prove to you that the experience you get here is not only evidence based but also transformative to people in real life.

The gym can be easy to push off when the summer gets that bit busier, but consider these ;

1) Being stronger & fitter benefits you day to day, why would you want to reverse this

2) It's easier to maintain your current state of strength & fitness than to start again

3) You'll feel like you're back at the beginning again upon your return

4) Being strong is a skill which takes practice, dropping sessions is only going to effect your day to day tasks

Summer can be all go with holidays and events popping up but making some effort to get 2-3 full body sessions in during the week can have a serious impact that will stand to you long beyond the summer. Even two sessions is going to help you maintain strength, mobility, routine and avoid those dreaded DOMS upon your return. πŸ₯΅

It's June 1st and with summer just getting started, the temptation to pull back on your routine creeps in , don't let it !!

A major predictor of how well you will age which is your muscle strength πŸ’ͺ This is often completely overlooked.

People can get so caught up on the minute details but in actual fact its:

Not muscle size
Not aesthetics
But it's actually
-Your strength

Strength training is often seen as a fitness fad or training type done for a small stint of time but in reality it should be a clinical priority for everyone for life.

You don't have to do extreme strength training. You can gain significant muscle strength in lots of ways from lifting weights, using resistance bands, your own bodyweight or even machines.

The main thing is that you are doing some form of strength training 2-3 times weekly that you enjoy and challenges you and that will keep up long into your future.

Here at DB Strength and Performance our priority with our small group coaching sessions is to deliver full body strength & conditioning sessions that are suitable to all levels that enhance your day to day life with improved strength & movement.

Member spotlight: Ashwene

Ash joined the gym 2.5 years ago. She was very new to strength training but look at the progress she has made. Here she is now squatting 80kg in her most recent test week.

Ash is a force to be reckoned with - she always shows up with an enthusiastic nature and has a friendly word for everyone.

If like Ash you want to build strength in a supportive and friendly environment then get in touch with DB Strength and Performance.
