Weekend Update

Three teams out in competitive action this weekend and unfortunately results wise the final 2 days of August were not kind to us.😔

Yesterday morning our U13 Boys travelled to Knockainey. While a tight game ensued with little between the sides, we fell to a 2-1 defeat for their first league outing of the new season.

Later yesterday our U15 Boys contested another away fixture against hosts St Nicholas in the Premier Division. Our newly forming team, with a third of the squad new, were unfortunately no match on the day to a strong well drilled & established Tipp outfit. A 5-0 defeat on the day.

Our final competitive outing was held today with our Juniors travelled to KIllaloe to take on Lough Derg FC, in an LDL Division 3 A clash. Their third match of the new season ended in their first defeat; a 3-1 loss on the day.

To end on a positive note however😄😄, our U11 Girls kicked off their season with a fine performance as they hosted Pallas United at home in Martinstown.

Great to see our former clubman, Sean Kelly, in great form coming on as a sub for his Irish national team debut in the u16s first game against Wales. Sean was on from the start for the second leg, playing a key role in Ireland’s win in that second tie.
Superb achievement for Sean - massive congratulations to Sean and all his family on a great honour to represent his country on an international stage. We’ve no doubt we will see Sean staring in the green jersey in years to come!

Congratulations to Sean Kelly on joining the Ireland U16 Squad!

Ireland’s U16 squad has been named for next week’s double-header against Wales! 🇮🇪 and it includes our very own SEAN KELLY! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Huge congratulations to Sean who receives the international call up from Ireland Lead Coach Keith O’Halloran as this superbly talented group come together for their first camp at U16 level.

Currently with Galway United, Sean started his young footballing career at Castle United. He developed into a fine young player over his 7 years at the club and ww are immensely proud to see him go on to receive a call up for national duty.

Congratulations Sean and best wishes from all Castle United AFC 💙💙💙💙
