WEEKLY NEWS: Hard luck to our Mixed Foursomes team, who lost out to Bearna G.C. in the Connacht Semi-Final on Thursday. Thanks and well done to team members, Carol McEnroe, Lisa Casey, Kathleen Kelpie, Grainne Henneberry, Tristan Probst, Pat Fenton, Noel Tivnan and Declan Rooney and their joint captains, Mary Corcoran and Kieran Egan for a memorable journey and here’s to next year! On the club competitions front, Shane Martyn (3) won the Tuesday 21st July 10 Hole club Stableford competition with 26 points. Eoin Nicholson (10) was second with 25 points and Ciaran McGonigle (20) was third with 25 points. Mark Kavanagh (18) from Castle Dargan G.C. won the Friday mixed open 18 hole Stableford competition with 41 points. Jack Warde (35) from Mountbellew G.C. was second with 38 points and Daniel Murray (40), also from Mountbellew G.C. came third with 36 points. In the Club Scotch Foursomes competition on Saturday 25th July, Brendan & Aidan O’Loughlin came first with 46 points. Martin Howley and Seamus Gilligan were second with 41 points, whilst James Hannon and Cathal Watters finished third with 40 points. The 18 hole Stableford competition played on Sunday 26th July was a Golfer of the Year competition, kindly sponsored by Tente GmbH. Kealan Gallagher (13) emerged as winner with 38 points and Conor Keane (6) came second with 37 points. Paul McGonigle (15) won the Back 9 competition with 16 points, John Stewart (7) won the Category 1 competition with 34 points, Colin Foran (15) won the Category 2 competition with 32 points and Jamie Mulligan (18) won the Category 3 competition with 35 points. Sincere thanks to Tente GMBH for their ongoing support of Strandhill Golf Club, which is greatly appreciated. In the current Martin Reilly Motors sponsored Golfer of the Year standings, J.P. Wright leads the way with 191 points following 5 competitions. Jimmy Glynn is placed second with 173 points from 4 competitions played and Jason Kelly is third with 157 points from 4 competitions. Junior Golf Updates...
On Saturday last Caoimhe and Ava represented Sligo in the community games all ireland pitch and putt final and won the national county title in Offaly. (2nd slide)

Last week Caoimhe also won the U18 Connaught Girls 0 to 20 handicap down at Tuam Golf Club while Ava took the 4th Place. (1st slide)

Mid summer session with Over 30 kids taking part in Junior 6s. Over half of them 1st time on course. Great to be able to progress our Juniors to the course and enjoy a friendly competition.

WEEKLY NEWS: Mark Kavanagh (9) was the winner of the Tuesday 14th July 10 hole Stableford competition with a score of 24 points. In second place was Mark Barr (7) with 22 points and Tom O’Sullivan (7) came third with 21 points. Friday 17th July’s Mixed Open 18 hole Stableford competition was won by Aldo Matassa (18) from Clonmel G.C. with 37 points, whilst Lester Speer (19) from Letterkenny G.C. was second with 35 points and P.J. Cunningham (18) came third with 34 points. On Saturday 18th July, our 18 hole Stableford competition was kindly sponsored by the Sligo Park Hotel and was won by Club Captain, Denis Joyce (18) who recorded 42 points, whilst Pat Fenton (8) came second with 38 points and Leo Nicholson (16) won the Back 9 with 18 points. Stephen English (9) won the Category 1 competition with 36 points, Francis O’Hara (17) won the Category 2 competition with 36 points and Jimmy Giblin (24) won the Category 3 competition with 35 points. Jennings O’Donovan (an RSK company) kindly sponsored our Sunday 19th July 18 hole Stableford competition, which Michael McDonnell (33) won with 39 points. Michael Cox (16) came second with 39 points, whilst Pat Lee (7) won the Back 9 competition with 18 points. Pat Hickey (8) won the Category 1 competition with 38 points, Tony Quigley (16) won the Category 2 competition with 37 points and Martin Campion (19) won the Category 3 competition with 34 points. Sincere thanks to the Sligo Park Hotel and Jennings O’Donovan for their ongoing support of the club, which is much appreciated and congratulations to all of our prizewinners this week.
