Great to welcome Elizabeth Wise, Chief Global Government Relations and Public Affairs Officer at Sazerac, to County Sligo Surf Club recently.

It was a chance to share the story of the club, showcase our facilities, and talk about the work being done by our volunteers to support surfing in the northwest.

We discussed our programmes, community initiatives, and ambitions for the future, as well as the importance of partnerships that help clubs like ours continue to grow and create opportunities for people of all ages.

A special thanks to Aoife Porter of for joining us and helping facilitate the visit.

🌊 Save the Date – Surfers Ball 2026 🌊

The County Sligo Surf Club Surfers Ball takes place on Saturday 19 September at Juniper Barn.
A chance to get together, catch up with friends, celebrate the season, recognise some great club achievements and enjoy a good night out with the local surf community.

What a day 🌊🇮🇪🇵🇹

We were delighted to welcome our friends from Surf Clube de Viana to Strandhill today as part of our Erasmus+ collaboration.

From the surf centre to the clubhouse, and of course a spin along the beach, it was all about sharing ideas, swapping experiences, and showing what makes our club so special 💙 With of course a lovely lunch in . 😍

We had some really constructive conversations around youth development, women in surfing, and our “Hour of Power” sessions—and this is only the beginning.

We’re already looking ahead to their return at the end of August/start of September, where we’ll bring these ideas to life

Great turnout at our AGM last night and a really positive evening for the club. Lots of good ideas, plenty of laughs, and great to see some new faces stepping forward with fresh energy.

St Patrick’s Day – Celebrating Local Heroes 🌊🇮🇪

This year County Sligo Surf Club is celebrating our own Gearóid McDaid – European Surf Champion, big wave surfer and Olympic hopeful.

Expect pro-surfer vibes, stickered-up boards, cardboard waves, Olympic rings, a jet ski on the truck, and plenty of blue “wave” flags as we take to the parade.

Join us from 11am on March 17th.
All members, families and future surfers welcome.

🌊 PERU 2025 – Let’s Get Behind Our Local Surfers! 🇮🇪

Huge congratulations to Darragh Gilmartin (U18), Daniel McSharry (U18) and Rory Murphy (U16) — three incredible surfers from Donegal Bay Board Riders who’ve been selected to represent Ireland at the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Peru this December! 🌎🏄‍♂️

These lads have grown up surfing the wild breaks around Sligo and Bundoran, putting in the hours through cold winters and early mornings. Now they’re taking their talent to the world stage — a massive achievement for them, their families, and the Irish surf community.

It’s a self-funded trip, and they need our help to make it happen. Every donation, big or small, will help cover travel, accommodation, and entry costs. Let’s rally behind them and show what the Northwest surf community can do! 💚💪

We were delighted to welcome Claudie Briand and Dympna from the Crozon and Sligo Twinning Committees along with Fergal Nealon to the Surf Club this week 🌊.

With strong ties already between Sligo and Crozon, it was a pleasure to share our club and the National Surf Centre — celebrating the friendships that connect our communities 🇮🇪🇫🇷.
