U13 Division 4A

Castledockrell 4

First league match for this team and well done to the players on their efforts. Castledockrell deserved the win but our lads competed to the end and we had some very good performances.

First half we were forced to defend mostly and Emilijus in goal made a number of good saves. We did have chanes on the break and Rùne was unlucky not to score when Leo put him through with a great pass. The visitors were one nil up at halftime.

Second half was more of the same, Simon worked hard in midfield butbthey got in behind and scored three goals to make 4 nil. 20 minutes to go but credit to our lads they didn't give up and made some good chances. Leo scored with a well struck long range free kick.

Plenty to work on as most of the players are new to the full pitch. Special mention to Ruan playing up at this age level, he was excellent at left back. Rùne and Leo stood out in midfield but our player of the match is Emilijus in goal.

🟢 U11 Match Report ⚪️

A really strong performance from Gorey Celtic U11s against Campile United today.

From the start, the lads were organised, worked hard for each other and showed some of the principles we’ve been working on in training. When we lost the ball, everyone worked together to win it back, and when we had possession, we tried to play good passing football.

There was also a great balance between moving the ball quickly and having the confidence to take players on one-on-one when the opportunity was there.

👏 A special mention to Ryan Devlin and Jim Murphy, who both made their competitive debuts and did themselves proud.

⭐ Man of the Match – Harry Knott
A couple of goals and an assist for Harry, but what stood out most was his decision-making. He consistently looked up, picked the right pass and brought his teammates into the game.

Plenty to be pleased with and, most importantly, a really good team performance. Well done, lads! 👏⚽

Gorey Celtic 2 Rosslare Strand 2

Saturday night saw the start of a new season at home as we welcomed Rosslare Strand up at Celtic.

Rosslare opened the scoring in the first few minutes before Hughie Doyle pulled one back for Celtic mid way through the first half.

Rosslare took the lead again early in the second half but again it was cancelled out through a Kenneth Byrne goal.

Both teams searched for a winner but it finished 2-2.

The second team got their campaign off to a winning start down in Fethard on Sunday in the lunchtime kick off.

Celtic started the brighter of the two sides but Fethard grew into the game and both sides cancelled each other out to make it 0-0 at the break.

Celtic were much sharper in the second half and took the lead on 54 mins through Gerry McCormack with a well taken goal, Jakub with the assist.

Callum Ryan made an immediate impact following his introduction minutes later by latching onto the end of a Dan Smyth cross to give Celtic a 2 goal lead.

We had some more chances but managed the remainder of the game well to keep the clean sheet.

Well done to all involved in both matches in a positive start to both campaigns.

The U10s had a very entertaining game at home this morning with Rangers.
It was goals galore including goals from Thiago, Antony and Tadhg.

POTM performance from Victor in centre midfield and special mentions to Alfie, Tadhg and Ethan who had great performances

🟢U14 Division 5 Match Report⚪️

St Josephs 1

Well done to the lads today on a very good start to the season. We started well and dominated midfield. Tommy, Reuben and Calum worked well together and created some good chances. We scored with a penalty after 24 minutes, Leo finishing well. 1-0 at halftime.

2nd half we again had a lot of the ball but this time our finishing matched our approach work and Leo added another. We made it 3-0 when Joey dribbled through the center and scored his first goal for Gorey Celtic!

Two more very good goals from Reuben and Judy made it 5.
St Josephs kept competing and scored on the break before Leo completed his hattrick with another well taken penalty

Overall an excellent performance by all the players and great reward for all the hard work put in at training these last 6 weeks.

Player of the match is shared between Shay at left back whose composure and determination set the tone and of course the hattrick hero Leo!
Well done to all the players for their efforts.

🟢U12 Div 2A Match Report⚪️

Gorey Celtic 4️⃣ - 0️⃣ Cushinstown

A brilliant performance from start to finish! 🔥

The kids really grew into this one, getting to grips with the pitch as the game went on and starting to play some lovely football. 💚⚽️

We moved the ball well, created some really good positions and showed great confidence in possession. The midfield controlled the game and the team kept pushing forward, eventually finding the goals our performance deserved. 👏

Ronan was on fire, grabbing a brilliant hat-trick and causing problems from start to finish! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Nathan also got himself on the scoresheet with his first goal of the new season — hopefully the first of many! 🙌

Jackson was a constant threat with his pace, giving the Cushinstown defence plenty to think about throughout. 💨

At the other end, Cian Caulfield was excellent in goal, making some important saves and clearances to help secure a fantastic clean sheet. 🧤

A really strong all-round team performance. 4 goals, a clean sheet and some lovely football — plenty for this group to be happy with and plenty to build on! 📈

Gorey Celtic 3️⃣ - 3️⃣ Wexford Albion

What a game! 🔥

A brilliant end-to-end contest with both teams going for it from start to finish. ⚡️

Celtic found themselves in some super positions throughout the game and showed real intent to play some lovely football. There were some excellent passages of play and plenty of chances at both ends! 👏

The kids showed great character throughout to keep competing right until the final whistle. 💪

A special mention to Cian Caulfield in goal, who was absolutely super and made some important contributions throughout the game. 🧤⭐️

Kerry Reddin ⭐️ – Unbelievable from start to finish. Never stopped running and gave everything for the team. 👏🔥

🟢U12 Division 1 Match Report⚪️

Gorey Celtic 1️⃣ - 0️⃣ Rosslare

What a way to start the season! 🔥

A long trip to last year’s unbeaten champions… and we came home with all three points! 💚

Celtic controlled large parts of the first half, dominating the ball and creating chance after chance. We hit the post twice, the crossbar and forced two brilliant saves from the Rosslare keeper! 😮‍💨

Rosslare came flying out in the second half and put us under serious pressure, but Jaden, Mason & Cian stood strong at the back, limiting them to half chances. 🧱

Then came the breakthrough! ⚡️ Scott’s brilliant delivery from a corner found Mason, who made no mistake to put us 1-0 up! ⚽️

From there it became a real battle. Rosslare pushed bodies forward, but the kids showed incredible resilience and togetherness to see the game out. 💪

Ria was excellent in goal, providing a calm presence and great distribution, while the pace of Donagh, Gui & Oskar kept Rosslare worried on the counter. ⚡️

A brilliant opening-day win against last season’s unbeaten champions. A huge platform to build from! 📈
