… your girl just completed her first ever duathlon and I couldn’t wait to tell you 🤫

At 1 year postpartum I set a goal to complete a triathlon before Theo turns 2.

6 months later: duathlon ticked off.
Moms, we can do it💪

4.5km run. 20km bike. 2.4km run.
Back to back.

As a breastfeeding mum with a 1.5 year old toddler in tow.

7 minutes off my goal time.
First ever run race.
First ever bike race.
DUATHLON done🏁

This was the Tri Lakes Duathlon in Knockma, Galway and honestly? I’d do it all again tomorrow.

Did I pick a difficult course? Yes.
Hill race to start. Hills on old country roads with traffic. More inclined for run 2. Tick to all..
Was it tough? YES
But, did I complete it? Yes. And I’m so proud!

I still remember the day you were dropped off in 2013, a tiny ball of fur that fit in the palm of my hand.

Some of my favourite memories were bringing you on adventures — discovering new beaches, exploring hikes, and watching you run freely with the happiest spirit. You were always happiest outdoors, and those moments will stay with me forever.

Thank you for the loyalty, the comfort, and the quiet companionship that never asked for anything in return.

You don’t need the newest kit.
You don’t need perfect weather.
You don’t even need confidence.

You just need to start — with what you have, where you are.

Old leggings. Old trainers. Cold Irish air. Real life.
And it still counts.

Waiting for the “right” gear or the “perfect” conditions will keep you stuck longer than you think. Start first. Learn as you go. Upgrade later — when you actually know what you need and whether you even enjoy it.

If I waited for blue skies or top-of-the-range kit, I’d still be waiting.

Starting something new doesn’t have to look aesthetic or polished. Especially as a mum, or a beginner, or someone juggling a lot — showing up imperfectly is more than enough.

Progress begins the moment you stop waiting ✨
