The Simonstown boys U14 A team secured a draw against table-toppers Blackhall yesterday evening in Simonstown in what was an absolute roller-coaster of a clash from start to finish. Looking resplendent during the warm up in their new EBS training tops the lads knew a strong performance would be needed to match the south Meath opposition.
The momentum swung viciously throughout as both sides looked like they were about to take control. In the end a Tosh goal was enough to secure a draw against Blackhall. The result was enough to ensure that Simonstown finish in second place in a very tight group, which sees this bunch of lads through to their first ever Cup semi-final.
In the first half the Navan lads started strongest with Tosh and Niall doing most of the scoring. Then before half time Jamie and Conor combined for Conor to finish to the net. That left it 1.09 to 2.5 at the interval.
Simonstown had a strong start to the second half with Jack G, Eamon, Kian ( 2pointer ) Niall and Tosh again all finding the range. When Lorcan scored a peach of a goal a 5 point gap opened up. Unfortunately, Simonstown lost a little bit of their earlier momentum at this stage and conceded 3 goals on the bounch during the course of the next 15.
However, a Jamie point and Tosh's cracking last minute finish to the net were enough to get the draw. Well done all!
