JAMES SMITH WINNER AT MARKET RASEN FOR CLAIRE O’CONNELL

Meath jockey James Smith (pictured) returned to the UK today - he had a short spell there in 2024 with Jonjo O’Neill - and partnered the Claire O'Connell-trained Born Bright to victory at Market Rasen.

The partnership was successful in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase at Tipperary at the beginning of July.

The six-year-old is owned and was bred by the trainer and had won a point-to-point in April last year.

This win was a third victory with Born Bright for James Smith who win a handicap hurdle at Thurles in March.

Today, Born Bright took it up two out and won well despite hanging right on the run in.
