Well done to the 2013 Boys Football Team on another win, making it 6 wins from 6 in the league and maintaining their 100% record!
Ratoath 2-15 | Inny Gaels 2-6
It was a typically slow start for Ratoath, conceding 1-1 in the opening 10 minutes as we looked a little passive and off the pace. The shooting boots definitely weren't on early doors π.
Inny Gaels had some lovely footballers and dominated the early stages of the game. However, Scottβs kick-outs were, as always, fantastic and provided the platform for Ratoath to work their way back into the contest.
Caelen Grail and Aaron Murphy were strong and disciplined throughout, dealing well with the ball being delivered into the full-forward line.
OdhrΓ‘n Phelan, Sennan Brady and Kayden Clarke had their work cut out for them in the half-back line against a talented Inny Gaels half-forward unit, but they impressively helped restrict the opposition to just 2-2 in the opening half. Substitute Aidean Dempsey was a revelation when introduced, consistently winning primary possession as Ratoath began to gain control.
Antonio Cooper and Evan Kelly worked tirelessly around midfield and chipped in with some excellent scores between them.
The half-forward line of Leo Goodall, Joe Jordan and Michael Ryan worked hard to find space and move the ball forward to the danger men inside, Greg Campbell and Mason McDonagh. Leo was excellent throughout, and his movement and distribution were a constant threat. Mason was constantly finding pockets of space and provided a superb outlet in attack, setting up a lovely goal for Greg.
Matthew Woods came into the full-back line alongside Mike O'Gorman, and very little got past the pair. They helped keep Inny Gaels to just five points in the second half despite the visitors having the benefit of a strong wind.
Noah Grant was introduced with the task of marking Inny Gaels' dangerous number 10 and did an excellent job.
Cullen Smith brought great energy to the team, as did Jude Lane in the corner-forward position.
Nick Clarke added a touch of class, reading the game superbly and picking out passes effortlessly off both feet.
Shane Daly was a constant threat throughout and repeatedly found himself in space thanks to some intelligent movement.i
A great team performance from start to finish. Well done to all involved!
