๐ถ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ฆCastlerahan GAA would like to acknowledge today, 6th June, as a significant date in Irish sporting and charitable history.
Sixty years ago today, on 6th June 1966, the very first Jimmy Magee All-Stars game was played in Ballyjamesduff. What began as an innovative charity match organised by the legendary sports broadcasterย Jimmy Mageeย grew into a nationwide institution that raised millions of euro for charitable causes over the following decades.ย
The inaugural match attracted huge crowds to Ballyjamesduff and marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that would see the Jimmy Magee All-Stars visit every county in Ireland and support countless worthy causes.ย
As a club deeply rooted in the Ballyjamesduff area, Castlerahan GAA is proud to remember and celebrate this historic occasion and the legacy of Jimmy Magee, Connie Lynch, Dessie Soden and all those who helped make that first game possible.ย
60 years on, we honour a day that placed Ballyjamesduff at the heart of a wonderful sporting and charitable tradition.ย ๐ถ๐ฆ๐
