What a week for Team Ireland 🇮🇪
While the rest of the club was enjoying a well-earned week off in the sun, our Euros squad were keeping the heat on at the Co-Ed Slowpitch European Championship in Farnham Park, London. 10 nations, 5 days, and a brilliant win over Austria to finish 5th in Europe. Not the result we were chasing, but a performance to be proud of.
Highlights for our club included: Katie Doyle (Packers) with a massive home run against Czechia. Merilin (Packers) with an outstanding .889 fielding percentage across the tournament. Kerry (Packers) - described by the commentator as literally the happiest player they’d ever seen on a softball field, and honestly, we wouldn’t have her any other way. Hazel (Bearcats) chasing everything down in the outfield all week. Aideen (Packers) off-screen but very much not silent. Dermo (Packers) holding it down as bench captain. And Mary (Bearcats) - the censorship team know who you are now 😂🤬
A special mention for Katie J (Bearcats), who went and won the whole thing with Team GB AND was the top female hitter of the entire tournament, .750 average and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
And a huge welcome home (or happy holidays to some you still away!) to all of our players who have been busy representing Ireland and Castleknock all over Europe this year - Steve, Lorcan and Amanda, we see you too and we’re proud of every one of you.
