45 junior parkrunners crossed the finish line today, cheered on every step of the way.

🥇 Leading the way: Oisín (9:07), Quin (9:24), Harry (9:26) and Matthew (9:28) — brilliant running!

⭐ Well done also to Florencw, Christopher, Darragh, Max and everyone else who gave it their all out there today.

A huge thank you to our amazing 17 volunteers who made this week's event happen.💚

Why junior parkrun? 🌱

It's not about times or trophies. It's about kids learning that they CAN do hard things, that running is for everyone, and that finishing matters more than winning.

Every child crosses the finish line a hero on Sundays at Cabinteely. ❤️

🎽 Did you know? Junior parkrunners can earn wristbands at every milestone!

Every Sunday at Cabinteely junior parkrun, our young runners aren't just clocking up 2k laps, they're working towards some seriously cool rewards.

There are five free milestone wristbands to collect, each one marking a brilliant achievement:
🔵 11 junior parkruns — half marathon wristband (blue)
🟢 21 junior parkruns — marathon wristband (green)
🟠 50 junior parkruns — ultra-marathon wristband (orange)
⚪ 100 junior parkruns — silver wristband
🟡 250 junior parkruns — yellow wristband

Each wristband comes with a lovely certificate you can print at home from your junior's parkrun profile. ✨

How do I know my junior is close to a milestone? 📊
Their total junior parkrun count appears in their weekly results email and on their parkrun profile. Once they hit a milestone, a coloured symbol will pop up next to their name in the results table.

How do they get the wristband? 🎉
Once your junior reaches a milestone, they'll be awarded their wristband at the next Cabinteely junior parkrun they attend. Just come and have a chat with our run director before or after the event.

We can't wait to celebrate with you! See you Sunday at 9:30am. 💚

🌟 Meet Emilia, one of our incredible volunteers!

We had a chat with Emilia to find out what it's really like to volunteer at Cabinteely Junior parkrun.

As one of our regular timekeepers, Emilia plays a crucial role every Sunday. She helps ensure every single finish time is captured accurately so our runners get the results they deserve.

And she's been doing it brilliantly: with over 50 volunteer appearances across parkrun (around 20 of those right here at the juniors) Emilia is a true cornerstone of our community. 🙌

In her own words, what keeps her coming back is simple: the vibe, and the friendships she has made along the way.

We are always looking for volunteers and the brilliant thing is, you don't need any experience. We welcome volunteers from age 4 to 14 (with parent support where needed), so there really is a role for everyone. Whether you want to be a timekeeper like Emilia, a marshal, a tail walker, or help with setup - every role matters and every Sunday is better because of you.

🌞 Event #25 | 28th June 2026

What a way to kick off the summer holidays! Today was the first weekend of the school break, and we had a fantastic 70 finishers and 20 volunteers out at Cabinteely Junior parkrun. Now that weekends are a little less busy, we'd love to see even more familiar faces joining us over the summer. Bring the cousins, the neighbours, the friends visiting from abroad!
