BALTINGLASS 5–1 PARKVILLE ⚽
Baltinglass hosted Parkville this morning in Parkmore for the first league game of the season and got the campaign off to a fantastic start with a 5–1 victory.
Baltinglass started brightly, with Luciano and Tyler Barry causing problems early on, but were unfortunate not to find the net. Parkville also created several early chances, but Scott Nolan stood strong in goal to keep them out.
The breakthrough came when Conor Corcoran delivered a great cross for Tyler Barry, who finished from close range to make it 1–0. Soon after, Corcoran got on the scoresheet himself with a brilliant strike into the top corner.
Half-time: Baltinglass 2–0 Parkville.
Parkville came out strongly in the second half, but the Baltinglass defence stood firm. Paddy Doherty and Jamie Harney were excellent at the heart of the defence, while Cathal Reardon and Jack Barrett stopped everything coming down the wings.
Khalid Alajrab then marked his Baltinglass debut with a goal to make it 3–0. After some great work from Joe Whelan and Leon Belinski, Tyler Barry grabbed his second of the morning.
To their credit, Parkville never gave up and pulled one back from a corner.
Rhys Barry was very unlucky not to score with a header following a great cross from David Owuna, while Glen Moody and Sean Doyle never stopped putting pressure on Parkville throughout the game.
The final goal came from the penalty spot. After a brilliant run, Luciano was brought down inside the box and Patrick Doherty stepped up to confidently convert the penalty and complete the scoring.
