On Wednesday 10 December, Head Coach at Conriocht MMA, Kevin Moran, received his well earned Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Kevin began his martial arts journey in 2004 initially with Waterford Vale Tudo & Waterford Kickboxing.
In 2007, while working in New York, he was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Coach John Danaher. Today Danaher is known as one of the top coaches in BJJ and MMA & the months Kevin spent training under him left an indelible impression on Kevin & his approach to combat sports.
As well as coaching Kevin has an extensive competitive background fighting Professional MMA beginning in late 2007 amassing a record of three wins and one loss before injury halted his career in 2009.
Throughout the years he has competed in various disciplines including Mixed Martial Arts, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Sambo, Submission Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Combat Sambo where he represented Ireland in St Petersburg, Russia.
His full time coaching career began in Galway City with Strange Wolves where he coached for 7 years & also intermittently in Point Blank Submissions.
In 2019 Kevin set up Conriocht MMA in Athenry & has gone on to coach National & International Champions across multiple disciplines, MMA, Submission Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Freestyle Wrestling.
Off the mats, Kevin has worked tirelessly to improve Irish & international athlete welfare. He serves as IMMAAโs National Child Protection Officer & Anti-Doping Officer. Internationally, he is part of IMMAF's Safeguarding Commission.
A truly well rounded martial artist & coach with a true passion for the sport, asked on his aspirations for Conriocht MMA he stated he is 'determined to have Galway leave a mark on the Combat Sports World Stage at the highest level'
