Our 6-Week Beginner & Fundamentals Course is designed specifically for adults (18+) who want structured coaching, real skill development, and a clear pathway into MMA.

This is not a drop-in fitness class.
This is a structured entry into MMA, coached by an IMMAA Seniors coach with 20 years experience developing athletes from beginner to international competition.

Whether you are brand new or transitioning from boxing, karate, or judo, this programme builds your foundation the right way.

Say hello to our 2026 Timetable! Fairly consistent the past few years but with one or two new additions officially:

• Our Youths have a specialised Youth Competition session on Mondays, suitable for 10-17 years old

• Open Mat and Drilling is on the menu for Sunday Service. This is a community session, visitors don't pay drop in fees.

* Monday and Friday Evenings at 8 p.m. will alternate every 6 weeks between a Beginners/Fundamentals course, and the introduction of deep dive courses on niche techniques, tactics and even different combat sports on the alternate 6 week blocks to the Beginners/Fundamentals Courses.

On Wednesday 10 December, Head Coach at Conriocht MMA, Kevin Moran, received his well earned Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Kevin began his martial arts journey in 2004 initially with Waterford Vale Tudo & Waterford Kickboxing.

In 2007, while working in New York, he was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Coach John Danaher. Today Danaher is known as one of the top coaches in BJJ and MMA & the months Kevin spent training under him left an indelible impression on Kevin & his approach to combat sports.

As well as coaching Kevin has an extensive competitive background fighting Professional MMA beginning in late 2007 amassing a record of three wins and one loss before injury halted his career in 2009.

Throughout the years he has competed in various disciplines including Mixed Martial Arts, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Sambo, Submission Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Combat Sambo where he represented Ireland in St Petersburg, Russia.
His full time coaching career began in Galway City with Strange Wolves where he coached for 7 years & also intermittently in Point Blank Submissions.

In 2019 Kevin set up Conriocht MMA in Athenry & has gone on to coach National & International Champions across multiple disciplines, MMA, Submission Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Freestyle Wrestling.

Off the mats, Kevin has worked tirelessly to improve Irish & international athlete welfare. He serves as IMMAA’s National Child Protection Officer & Anti-Doping Officer. Internationally, he is part of IMMAF's Safeguarding Commission.

A truly well rounded martial artist & coach with a true passion for the sport, asked on his aspirations for Conriocht MMA he stated he is 'determined to have Galway leave a mark on the Combat Sports World Stage at the highest level'

An incredible weekend last for Conriocht at the Irish IMMAA National MMA Championships

Michael Cronnelly consolidated his reputation as the most formidable 68kg Amateur Fighter on the Island overcoming a very experienced and hard hitting opponent from the stellar SBG Naas gym. Mike C's days as an amateur are numbered, nice to leave the 8 Oz gloves with a National Title in his back pocket

Michael Pielow battled through early adversity on his Super Welterweight Final against a well versed and driven opponent from Eire Gym Tullamore. The fight in the end was close, with time running out on the Mayo native with the momentum firmly swung in his favour. Mike P will no doubt return and is still eligible for Irish Team selection as No. 2 in the country. We're looking forward to Mike's International debut in 2026 where he will join Mike Cronnelly and Coach Kev in the Irish setup.

Sean Feery had incredible performances all the way to the Featherweight Youth A Final, mixing flair, clinical striking, ruthless wrestling and even dogged to the death grit to cement his place as one of the brightest talents in the country. Sean narrowly came up short in the final against a former IMMAF World Champion. If the past 12 months development and progress is anything to go by, we are VERY excited to see what 2026 has in store for Sean, domestically and internationally

The inaugural year for Youth D division (Under 11's) resulted in a superb showing from teammates Jamie Woods and Eoin McDonagh, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively in a division showered with unbelievable talent from all across the Island, North and South.

A return of two National Champions and two No.2 seeds from the 2025 Irish IMMAA National Championships from a small club with just about 30 Youths and Adults who train MMA is simply incredible for a small rural club. We're very fortunate for the individuals who choose to train with us, the culture they permeate along with their clubmates and the coaches who contributed to their success; Kevin, PJ, Andrew, Ciara and Jamal

Massive congrats to Gaby Browne on incredible performances at last weekend's IBJJF European No-Gi Championships!
Gaby placed 3rd, missing out on the final by a buzzer be**er points reversal, in a sterling 55kg division. If that wasn't enough for the Kerry native, she then went into the Open division and got all the way to the final against an opponent MULTIPLE weight classes above her, snatching a silver medal in the process!
Gab has been an incredible addition to our team and has taken it upon herself to overhaul her tactics and general game to a more ruthless and robust competition orientated style, and we doubt she's finished fine tuning her game! In fact this year might be the foundation stone for a bright and unprecedented international career ahead!

Camp officially over for Paul Keane and Michael Cronnelly as they fly out to join Coach Kevin Moran and the rest of the Irish MMA Squad for the 2025 IMMAF World Championships in Tblisi.
Jamal Naisiri is 2 weeks out from a high profile fight in Cork, rumour has it he will be glad of the break from the 3 lads while they are away!!
It's been an arduous 6 week camp for the athletes, training like full time athletes, all while holding down full time jobs and making time to help teammates and juniors train and prepare for their own fights and competitions.
Big shout out to Conriocht Boxing Coach PJ Fallon, and the addition of the incredible skills of Darren O'Connor, in being a constant presence for our MMA preparation, all the way from Novice to World Championship level.
An incredible achievement for 2 athletes from such a small club to be representing our country on the biggest amateur stage, we have every faith that Paul and Mike are going to make waves in Tblisi!
