🎙️ The Evexia Effect Podcast

Wellness by the Waves 🌊💙

In this episode, I sit down with Jess from Euphoria Spa in the beautiful seaside town of Kardamena, Kos.

We talk about Jess’s personal wellness journey, the story behind Euphoria Spa and how island life can create the perfect environment for slowing down, reconnecting and nurturing both body and soul.

We explore:
✨ Jess’s journey into wellness
🌿 The story behind Euphoria Spa
🌊 The healing influence of island life
🧘‍♀️ Daily wellness rituals
💆‍♀️ The philosophy behind spa treatments
🌱 The connection between nature and wellbeing
💙 What true wellness means beyond simply looking after your body

There’s something special about living by the sea — the slower pace, the connection to nature and the reminder to take a moment for yourself.

If you love wellness, Kos or simply need a little reminder to slow down, this is a lovely conversation to listen to. 🌊

Three types of movement I swear by:

🏋️ Weight training
🧘 Pilates
🚶 Walking

Not because I think they are the ONLY things you should do.

Far from it.

I will always say that any movement is better than no movement – and if you love swimming, dancing, running, cycling, hiking or anything else, PLEASE keep doing it.

Because the best exercise is the exercise you actually enjoy enough to keep doing.

But I love the combination of weight training, Pilates and walking because they each bring something different.

Weight training helps us build and maintain strength.

Pilates helps us develop control, stability, mobility and body awareness.

Walking keeps us moving, supports cardiovascular fitness and can become part of everyday life.

Together, they create a fantastic foundation for a body that is strong, mobile and capable.

And especially as we get older, I think that's what we should be aiming for.

Not simply being smaller.
Not burning as many calories as possible.
But being strong enough to carry our shopping.
Fit enough to walk up a hill.
Mobile enough to get down onto the floor and back up again.
Capable enough to travel, hike, play, explore and keep doing the things we love.

Because the goal isn't to become really good at exercising.

The goal is to become really good at LIVING. ❤️

I've written a new blog about why these three forms of movement work so well together, and why I encourage my clients to include them in their lives.

🎙️ The Evexia Effect Podcast

This episode is all about the power of connection — to ourselves, to others and to the practices that support our wellbeing. 🌿

We explore yoga, self-care and personal growth, and how creating space to slow down and listen to ourselves can have a much deeper impact than we sometimes realise.

We talk about:
✨ The importance of connection in our wellbeing
🧘‍♀️ How yoga can support both body and mind
🌿 Making self-care a meaningful part of everyday life
💙 Creating space for personal growth
🌱 Listening to what we actually need
✨ Finding balance in a busy world

Sometimes wellness isn’t about doing more. It’s about pausing, reconnecting and giving ourselves the time and space to grow.

What does it actually mean to have a rich life? 🤍

And no, I don’t mean financially rich… because I’m definitely not that! 😂

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we define a “rich” life.

For me, it isn’t about having more money, a bigger house, a better car or owning lots of things.

It’s about having a simple home in a place I’ve dreamed of living in.

It’s about a husband who complements my life (most of the time 😉), two amazing dogs and a kitten who seems determined to grow into a lion.

It’s about loving what I do and being able to help people every day.

It’s about friendships that feel genuine.

It’s about summer weekends on beautiful beaches, winter hikes, quiet days at home and knowing that I’m actually happy with my own company.

It’s also about accepting that life doesn’t always give us everything we hoped for.

There are things I’ve had to grieve. Things I’ve had to let go of. Things I’ve had to accept may not be meant for me.

But I’m learning that gratitude isn’t about pretending everything is perfect.

It’s about noticing what is.

Because maybe having a rich life isn’t about having everything.

Maybe it’s about knowing what matters to you.

Living according to your values.
Having boundaries.

Spending your time with people who lift you up.

And appreciating the little things that make your life yours.

I’ve written more about what a rich life means to me in my latest blog.

🎙️ The Evexia Effect Podcast

This week, I’m joined by Grace, the heart behind Naos — a beautiful wellness studio specialising in massage and facials. 🤍

We dive into the deeper benefits of holistic treatments and why taking care of ourselves isn’t simply a luxury — it’s an important part of modern wellbeing.

We talk about:
✨ How massage can help release stress and physical tension
🌿 The connection between our skin, body and overall wellbeing
🤲 The power of intentional touch
💆‍♀️ Why facials can be about so much more than skincare
🧘‍♀️ Creating meaningful self-care rituals
💙 Making space to slow down, tune in and reconnect with yourself

Whether you’re someone who loves a regular massage or you’ve never tried a holistic treatment before, this conversation is a lovely reminder that sometimes doing less is exactly what our body needs.

When your body says “not right now”, it can be really hard to stay motivated. 💙

Especially when movement, exercise and feeling strong are such an important part of your life.

I’m currently dealing with a fairly severe injury myself, and honestly, I don’t know yet what the next step will be or how things are going to progress.

But I do know that I can still do something.
I’m still weight training, but adapting exercises, using more support and choosing movements that work around my injury.
I’m still doing Pilates, but much more gently. I’m not pushing for progression or trying to achieve more. Right now, I’m simply listening to my body and maintaining movement where I can.

Because exercise doesn’t always have to mean progression.

Sometimes it means maintaining strength.
Sometimes it means moving gently.
Sometimes it means doing less.
Sometimes it simply means showing up.

And when you're injured, it can help to change how you measure success.

Maybe today’s achievement isn't lifting more or moving further. Maybe it's feeling better mentally, maintaining your mobility, sleeping better or simply doing something positive for yourself.

You don't have to know exactly when you'll get better to look after yourself today. ❤️

I've written more about exercising around injury, adapting movement and finding different ways to measure progress in my latest blog.

And remember: every injury is different, so always seek appropriate professional advice about what movement is safe for you.

🎙️ I recently had the pleasure of being a guest on the Big World Made Small Adventure Travel Podcast with host Jason Elkins — and what a conversation it was!

We talked about my journey from a career in the British Army to life in Greece, becoming a fitness and Pilates instructor, and ultimately creating Retreats In Greece. 🇬🇷

We also explored something I’m incredibly passionate about: retreats are about so much more than simply taking a holiday.

They can give us space to slow down, reconnect, work through stress and burnout, learn new tools for our wellbeing and, sometimes, make changes that continue long after we return home.

We chatted about:
✨ Why I created Retreats In Greece
✨ How I match people with retreats based on what they actually need
✨ Why Greece is such a powerful setting for healing and wellbeing
✨ The difference between military fitness and sustainable movement
✨ Why Pilates really can be for everyone
✨ Some of the more unusual retreats available in Greece — including mythology-based healing
✨ My own evolving approach to health, fitness and wellness
✨ The challenges of building a business and community around meaningful travel
✨ And why sometimes a solo or tailor-made retreat can be exactly what someone needs

It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the journey so far and share what sits behind Retreats In Greece — not just booking a retreat, but helping people find an experience that genuinely fits them.
