NEWSFLASH!!!!!!!
We would like to thank everyone at Wotton-Under-Edge Town Council for the extremely generous donation toarwds new equipment for the club.
"We can not thank the town council and people of Wotton enough for sharing in our vision. The committee is made up of people who have grown up as little children watching on the sidelines to where we are today. We love this club, and we are proud to say we are from Wotton. We asked for half the amount of money (with a plan of fundraising the other half) and were blown away when the town council offered to donate the full amount. We are so grateful, and this will allow the current and future generations a brighter future of sport"
From Olli Boyle on behalf of the club.
At Wotton Rovers, we set out with a clear plan to provide the best experience for local people to play or watch football.
The 5 points below were crucial to meet.
1- Provide a pathway for local youngsters and give them opportunities to play. We have achieved this with a growing number of youngsters involved.
2-Be a community champion and help out others. Every year, we have been heavily involved in raising money for a number of good causes and helping others.
3. Improve the facilities at the club. We have developed the storage facilities with 2 brand new lock-up containers and will continue to push forward.
4. Grow as a club. We have successfully grown over the last 5 years or so with the rebirth of the Ressies, Vets, and under 18s. Providing more people an opportunity to enjoy the game. League titles, promotions, and cup success have been a bonus.
5. It's probably the most important. To keep football affordable for everyone and be fully inclusive. We have introduced player sponsorship to keep costs affordable and have schemes to help those who need it. Football should never be financially beyond anyone. We have a safeguarding team and take measures to include everyone , from all backgrounds. We welcome new players, supporters and members for the committee.
Despite growing costs, we have stuck to all these objectives. The equipment will reduce costs and make us more sustainable. So it ticks a couple of boxes. It's a massive boost for all involved, both now and in the future.
Many thanks to the town council and all who help us.
