Meet Simon. π
Simon's been a Cycall trustee for two years β officially our Treasurer, unofficially the person who turns up with a spanner whenever a bike needs fixing.
Before Cycall, Simon walked the Camino de Santiago in 2019 β a 500-mile pilgrimage across Spain β and came home wanting to do more charity work. His wife spotted an advert for Cycall volunteers and mentioned it to him. Given his love of cycling, it was, in his words, "a match made in heaven." He came down for a taster session and never left.
With 35 years in finance, Simon brings serious financial know-how to the board. But ask him what he actually gets out of being a trustee, and it's simpler than that: "A lot of satisfaction. It makes the work worthwhile when I see the smiles on our users' faces when I'm down at the track."
Outside Cycall, Simon plays in a local Samba band, is a keen member of Angmering Cycling Club, works as a wedding toastmaster, and β genuinely β has written a book about his Camino de Santiago, available on Amazon.
Thank you, Simon, for two years (and counting) of spreadsheets, spanners, and showing up.
