Meet Simon. πŸ’›

Simon's been a Cycall trustee for two years β€” officially our Treasurer, unofficially the person who turns up with a spanner whenever a bike needs fixing.
Before Cycall, Simon walked the Camino de Santiago in 2019 β€” a 500-mile pilgrimage across Spain β€” and came home wanting to do more charity work. His wife spotted an advert for Cycall volunteers and mentioned it to him. Given his love of cycling, it was, in his words, "a match made in heaven." He came down for a taster session and never left.

With 35 years in finance, Simon brings serious financial know-how to the board. But ask him what he actually gets out of being a trustee, and it's simpler than that: "A lot of satisfaction. It makes the work worthwhile when I see the smiles on our users' faces when I'm down at the track."

Outside Cycall, Simon plays in a local Samba band, is a keen member of Angmering Cycling Club, works as a wedding toastmaster, and β€” genuinely β€” has written a book about his Camino de Santiago, available on Amazon.

Thank you, Simon, for two years (and counting) of spreadsheets, spanners, and showing up.

A few more moments from the Mayor's visit. πŸ’›

Beyond the interview, there was a whole afternoon of it β€” Mayor Skinner chatting with the team like she'd been coming for years, having a proper go on the bikes, and finishing with a photo alongside everyone who made the day happen.

It's one thing to be chosen as a mayoral charity. It's another to have the Mayor genuinely show up, get stuck in, and spend real time with the people and riders at the heart of what we do. That's what today was.

Thank you, Mayor Skinner β€” for your time, your energy, and for choosing Cycall. 🌻🚲

One week ago today, we were rolling through Worthing. 🎭🚲
Cycall took part in the Worthing Rotary Carnival parade β€” and a week on, we're still smiling about it.

A huge thank you to Worthing Rotary for having us as part of such a brilliant local tradition. And a special thank you to our guests for the day β€” Worthing Mencap & Buddys and Phab Friends β€” who joined us on the route and made it even more special.

Thanks also to and , whose adapted bikes carried the whole team through Worthing without missing a beat. "Let's all cycle!" β€” never felt more true than parading through town on them.

Days like this remind us what Cycall is really about: community, partnership, and a genuinely good time, shared with people who get what we do and why it matters.
Thank you all. Here's to next year. πŸ’›πŸŽ‰

Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Steve. πŸ’›

Steve joined the Cycall team this season β€” and he's already become one of the faces you'll see at Brooklands Park, helping riders get set up, matched to the right bike, and settled in for their session.

He also does one of the most underrated jobs on the team: keeping everyone fed and watered. If there's a warm drink in your hand at a Cycall session, there's a decent chance Steve made it.

Steve found his way to us after volunteering with another charity, and cycling has always been a genuine love of his β€” which probably explains why he settled in so naturally. And in case you're wondering what he gets up to outside Cycall: Steve has driven a car around Brands Hatch. As you do.

New to the team, already indispensable. Thank you, Steve. 🌻🚲

A mother's perspective. πŸ’›

Sarah's son, Alex, is 30 years old and rides with us at Cycall. In this video, Sarah shares what that means β€” to her, and to him β€” in her own words.

Cycall isn't just for the person on the bike. It's for the families who've waited a long time to watch a moment like this. Thank you, Sarah, for trusting us with your story β€” and thank you, both, for letting us share it.

And that’s a wrap. πŸŽ‰πŸš²

The Cycall team made it from Brooklands Park to Steyne Gardens, and this was the moment everyone crossed the finish line.

Huge thanks to Worthing Rotary for having us as part of the carnival, to everyone who came out to cheer us along the route, and to the whole Cycall team who pedalled, walked, and celebrated their way through it.

What a day. πŸ’›

More photos and the full story coming very soon.

Dressed for the occasion. 🎭🚲

Cycall took part in the Worthing Rotary Carnival parade yesterday β€” bikes, team, riders, and a genuinely brilliant turnout of fancy dress.

Kyle came as Captain Jack Sparrow, Marc turned up as a fireman, and honestly, the whole day was full of colour, costumes, and proper carnival joy.

Huge thanks to Worthing Rotary for having us as part of it, and to every rider, volunteer, and Mencap friend who came along and made it such a brilliant day.
Watch through and see for yourself. πŸ‘€

What a way to close out the season. πŸ’›πŸŽ‰

Eleanor and Pamela, mid-session and clearly having the best time. πŸ’›

Pamela's from Worthing Mencap & Buddys , and she's become a familiar face at Cycall this season β€” always up for a go on the bikes, always bringing brilliant energy with her. We're delighted she'll also be joining us for the Worthing Rotary Carnival parade on Monday August 31st.

This photo pretty much sums up what a Cycall session feels like on a good day. Sunshine, a side-by-side, two thumbs up, and not a hint of hesitation. 🚲🌻

If you haven't met Ellie yet β€” you will. Come find us at Brooklands Park.

A very special visit β€” in her own words. πŸ’›

Our very Mayor of Worthing Lysanne Skinner came to Cycall recentlyβ€” not just to see what we do, but to properly join in. She kindly took the time to explain, in her own words, why she chose Cycall as one of her mayoral charities this year. Have a watch. πŸŽ₯
She didn't stop at the interview either β€” she got stuck into a session, met our riders, and had a genuine go on the bikes herself.

As one of the Mayor's three chosen charities, having her visit in person and speak so openly about why Cycall matters to her meant a huge amount to everyone at Brooklands Park.

Thank you, Mayor Skinner β€” for your time, your honesty, and for choosing us. 🌻🚲
