🥊 FRIDAY MMA — NEW TRAINING RULES
We’ve got fighters coming in to train hard and prepare for fights, so the standard and tempo of Friday MMA needs to step up.
If you’re a hobbyist, you’re more than welcome — but come ready to work hard and support the team.
From now on:
• No sitting between rounds.
• No lying down.
• No bending over with your hands on your knees.
• No leaning against the wall.
• When the round finishes, pick your next partner and be ready to go when the timer starts. Every second of training counts.
🥋 SUBMISSIONS
Don’t snap on submissions. We’re here to train, not break each other. Apply everything with control and give your partner time to tap.
🧠 HEAD CONTACT
We do not need 100% power to the head in training. We’ve only got so many miles on the clock — let’s save our brains for when it actually matters.
🔥 EFFORT
Give 100% effort for the entire session. Don’t sit rounds out unless there is a genuine reason.
🩹 INJURED? TELL THE COACH.
If you’re carrying an injury, speak to the coach before training. You can sit out sparring or we can modify the rules/rounds to allow you to train safely.
🥊 TRAIN TO THE LEVEL YOU CAN FIGHT
If you’re preparing for amateur MMA, train within amateur rules. There’s no need for elbows, heel hooks etc. if they aren’t part of what you’re preparing for.
If you’re training for pro rules, that’s different — but make sure your training reflects the level you’re actually going to compete at.
The aim is simple: hard, intelligent, controlled training that makes everyone better.
We want Friday MMA to be a place where fighters can prepare properly, hobbyists can get pushed, and everyone leaves knowing they put a shift in.
Turn up. Work hard. Look after your teammates. Get better. 🏴
