Hampshire RFU are inviting expressions of interest from suitable members of the Rugby Community wishing to be considered for the role of the RFU Council Representative for the Hampshire.

Following a distinguished period of service, our current Representative, Mr Terry Burwell, will complete the maximum permitted nine-year term in 2027.

During his tenure, Terry has provided outstanding representation for Hampshire Rugby, championing the interests of our clubs and members at a national level whilst working closely with the Board of Hampshire RFU to ensure effective co-operation, alignment and support to provide our members with the best rugby experience possible.

Whilst the formal process will not take place until Q1 in 2027, we are keen to be well placed to allow interested individuals every opportunity to understand the role, and ultimately for the successful candidate to build upon and continue the fantastic work undertaken by Terry, ensuring Hampshire clubs have a supportive, strong and influential voice within the Rugby Football Union.

The deadline for candidates to have been proposed and seconded by voting clubs is 1st March 2027 with the elections concluded by the 28th March 2027.

Player Recruitment and Regulation 7.

A reminder to all clubs regarding RFU Regulation 7 and the importance of upholding both the letter and the spirit of the regulation across the community game.

We recognise that conversations between players / parents will naturally take place, and ultimately players are free to make their own choices about where they play rugby. However, club officials should not be involved in direct approaches to players / parents from other clubs outside of their club’s wider, appropriate recruitment and promotional activity.

Maintaining fairness, respect and positive relationships across the game is in everyones interest.
