Vacancy | Director of Youth Rugby – Hampshire RFU

We are looking for a new Director of Youth Rugby to join the Hampshire RFU Management Board and help lead, support and shape youth rugby across the county.

Before looking ahead, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to Laura Self for everything she has given to rugby in Hampshire over so many years, both as Youth Chair and as Director of Youth Rugby.

Laura’s contribution to the county will be celebrated fully at the appropriate time. For now, we are incredibly grateful for her passion, commitment and tireless support for youth rugby, which has made a real difference to so many young players, coaches and volunteers across Hampshire.

As we begin the search for her successor, we are looking for someone who shares that passion for the youth game and can bring their experience, ideas and leadership to the next stage of its development.

We’re looking for someone passionate about rugby and getting more young people into the game to become the new School Rugby Manager for North Hampshire.

Working with Queen Mary’s College, Hampshire RFU and England Rugby, you’ll help grow rugby in schools and build stronger links between schools and local clubs.

- 18.5 hours / 2.5 days per week

Hampshire RFU and Hampshire Schools Rugby unite

We’re delighted to confirm the merger of Hampshire Schools Rugby into Hampshire RFU – bringing schools and the wider game closer together and creating new opportunities to support and grow rugby across the county.

This is about building stronger connections between schools, clubs, teachers and volunteers, while creating a clearer and more sustainable pathway for schools rugby in Hampshire.

Good news….new dashboards are live!

📣 England Rugby Learning Dashboards are now live in GMS

Club Admins and users with the relevant permissions can now access the new Learning Management module, giving clubs a much clearer picture of volunteer learning, qualifications and minimum standards.

You can now:

* See whether people in key volunteer roles are meeting the required standards
* Review learning progress for Coaches, Match Officials, First Aiders and Volunteers
* Monitor role allocation and coach-to-player ratios
* Export learning records for local reporting

One important action for clubs is to make sure volunteers are allocated to the correct teams and roles in GMS, so the dashboard information is accurate.

The current minimum qualification standards remain:

* Developing Coaching Practice — U7–U12 coaches
* England Rugby Coaching Award — U12+ coaches
* Ready2Referee — U12+ match officials

Clubs are encouraged to support volunteers in completing the relevant learning by 31 January 2027.

Also, Introduction to Safeguarding is now a prerequisite for DBS applications, with completions potentially taking up to 24 hours to appear on an individual’s record.

🏉 START OF SEASON UPDATE

Hampshire RFU will align our adult male league and Age Grade competitions with the RFU decision to delay competitive community rugby until the week commencing 21 September.

Given the exceptionally hard ground conditions and limited opportunity for contact preparation, we believe this is the right approach — putting player welfare and fairness first.

Training and friendly fixtures can continue where conditions, player readiness and safety allow.
