We're pleased to announce the return of Russell Dougherty as our Club Physio for the 2026/2027 season.

Russ has been a constant presence at Whitehaven RUFC for well over a decade, putting time and effort into making sure the lads get back on the pitch and stay on the pitch, as well as dishing out healthy doses of man up pills when required. The work he does often goes unnoticed from the sidelines, but anyone who's spent time in the changing room knows just how important he is to keeping the squad ticking over throughout the season.

We're delighted to have him back for another year.

Our coaching staff announcements continue with the appointment of Liam Tunstall as our Forwards Coach for the 2026/27 season.

After leading the club as Head Coach last season and guiding the team to an impressive 5th place finish, Liam will remain a key part of the coaching setup as we continue to build on the progress made over the last 12 months.

🏉 LEAGUE ANNOUNCEMENT 🏉

We can now confirm the teams we will be playing against next season in

The Cumbria RFU have made the decision to split the Cumbria League into two Leagues, playing at Level 7 and Level 8 respectively. After a respectable campaign which saw us finish the season in 5th position, we go into the 2026/2027 season playing in Counties Cumbria Level 7 as we look to build on last year's result.

This restructure should bring some great competitive matches for both players and supporters.

Fixtures will be announced in the coming weeks, watch this space and keep your diaries free!

🏉 BACKS COACH ANNOUNCEMENT 🏉

After the announcement of our head coach yesterday, we're pleased to announce that Craig Hodgson will be supporting Callum in the role of Backs Coach for the 2026/27 season.

Craig brings a wealth of experience to the role, having enjoyed a distinguished rugby league career with Whitehaven RLFC, Workington Town and Distington ARL. His knowledge of the game, competitive mentality and passion for developing players will be a huge asset to our squad as we continue to build for the future.

This season will also be a special one for the Hodgson family, with Craig's son Jacob joining the squad. For the first time, father and son will have the opportunity to share the field together in Whitehaven colours, something that promises to be a proud moment for everyone involved at Whitehaven RUFC as we enter our 150th year.

We are delighted to announce that former player and coach Callum Rowlandson will be taking on the role of Head Coach for the 2026/27 season.

Having spent last season playing, Callum now steps into the lead coaching role, bringing his experience, passion and knowledge of the club to the position.
