We have 3 mixed teams, 3 doubles teams, 1 men's team and 1 ladies' team who enter the West Cumbria Badminton League each season. We also enter 3 mixed teams into the Leagues Knockout Handicap Competition called the Peeney Cup. We are a very laid-back Senior club, who has a big social side, and a lot of our members like to get together for nights out, events, parties etc. We hold a Christmas night
out and attend the Presentation Night at the end of each season. Marchon Badminton Club was formed in the Marchon Club, in Whitehaven. It was formerly a works social club belonging to Marchon Chemical Plant but is now independently run as a community hall. We moved through to West Lakes Academy in Egremont for a season, until we were able to move back to Whitehaven into St Benedict's School where we spent 5 seasons. However, from September 2016 we started playing from St Bees School and remained there since with no plans of moving. The Badminton Club has developed considerably over the last 20 years. The average age of the club has dropped, meaning there is a wave of younger players moving the club on into the future. We are a senior club; therefore, we do not have a junior section, but please still get in touch if you have a child who is interested in playing and we can point you into the right direction. The club won an award in March 2015, for the Club of the Year from Badminton England. This was awarded to us due to the progression, dedication and commitment of the clubs' members. This is a National Award and a massive achievement for us. We aim to grow on this success in future seasons and hoping you may come along to join us. please get in touch via the usual channels, either email, Facebook or through members you may already know who play at the club.
