Yew Tree Youth Theatre have announced an exciting Summer Programme for children and young people of all ages this year

If you are aged between 7 and 11 years old, you could attend our plays in a day:
19th August with the theme ‘Places I’ll go’ venue to be confirmed
24th August ‘Mystery and Mayhem’ at West Yorkshire Dance Centre, Station Road, Ossett WF5 0JE.
25th August ‘If I ruled the world’ again at West Yorkshire Dance Centre, Station Road, Ossett WF5 0JE.
All the days run from 10-3pm with a sharing for Parents at 2.30pm
All you need to bring is yourself, food and water and make sure you have clothes to move around in.

If you are aged between 13 – 19 years old, you could attend our Summer School - which will be facilitated with our friends from Empath Theatre
Dates 10th – 14th of August Times – 10am – 4pm Monday
Performance at WX Wakefield 22nd August - afternoon/evening times tbc
Venue – Navigation Way, Wakefield

If you are between the ages of 14 – 25 year you could attend our Helios Physical Theatre Project
Dates: July 9th 16th 23rd and August the 13th and 20th Times: 6.15 – 8.15
Venue: West Yorkshire Dance Centre, Station Road WF5 0JE. You need to be available for at least 4 out of the 5 sessions and for the performance at WX on the 22nd of August times to be confirmed.

The activities are free due to funding from Creative Minds.

Open to both YTYT members and non YTYT members but places are limited so book yours asap by messaging us or emailing [email protected]

We love a story at Yew Tree Arts (and YTYT) and May is National Share A Story Month 2026, a month dedicated to celebrating the power of storytelling.

This event encourages people of all ages to share stories in various forms, whether through reading, writing, or oral storytelling, to foster imagination and connect communities.

Welcome to May
Month of bank holidays and for Tree Youth Theatre their regional performance of The Animals at CAST Theatre in Doncaster.
We're so proud of all the company have achieved and we're looking forward to sharing it with an audience for one last time!

We are having a great time working with the key stage 2 children at Lofthouse Gate Academy. They are hard at work rehearsing a performance of The Rescue of Robin Hood to share with family and friends next month.

Today Sarah spent an excellently creative day with facilitating a playwriting workshop - they talked character, landscape, structure and plot and so many excellent ideas were launched! Such a delightful way to spend the day!
