The first YMD day is on Sunday Sept 13th, 11am to 4pm when the wonderful Georgia Rowan will be teaching.
We will be at the Sheffield venue again: The Pavillion, Hillsborough Park, S6 4HD - info below.
We'd love to welcome new Sheffield dancers to YMD.
The other workshops this year will be at NSCD as usual.

Georgia tells us:
I am a community dance facilitator, choreographer, performer, and massage therapist based in Sheffield.

I trained at the Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance in Germany, followed by an MA at the London Contemporary Dance School. I have worked across dance theatre, site-specific and immersive theatre, community-led projects and film, including Persona Collective, Shobana Jeyasingh, LANDMARKING and Hallam Sinfonia.

In 2024, I started teaching weekly movement classes and have since joined 50+ Contemporary Dance Sheffield as a guest teacher.

From a contemporary foundation, I usually teach a mix of floor and standing phrases with a sprinkle of jazz or house. Creatively, I like to explore the use of objects, storytelling and the physicalisation of emotions.

Costs and details
Day rate £25 for everyone, half day £16
Annual Membership £30 can be paid in October
Just turn up on the day
Pay by BACs in advance, or on the day
Warm up/technique/phrases in the morning, creative work in the afternoon
Bring your own lunch and drinks, there is an area to sit for a social lunchtime
Everyone welcome age 18 - 80+

We had a fabulous day of dance with the wonderful Zoobin Surty yesterday. We also had the added bonus of a meditation session at the end of the day as, despite nursing an injury, Pradeep Singh came along to watch the work we had created with Zoobin and then led the meditation for us. A beautiful end to a super day. Thank you Zoobin and Pradeep.

We are looking forward to Zoobin teaching at YMD today - we always have a wonderful day of dance. Unfortunately, Pradeep, Zoobin’s yoga teacher has an injury and is unable to join us to lead elements of yoga and meditation. We wish him a speedy recovery.

The wonderful Zoobin Surty, who is teaching at Yorkshire Movement and Dance this Sunday, 14th June, is bringing his yoga teacher, Pradeep Singh, to work alongside him. Pradeep is from the ‘spiritual capital of yoga’: Rishekesh in India. As well as being so important to Zoobin he happens to be in the UK and so can accompany Zoobin on Sunday. Pradeep has worked with dancers before.

Zoobin’s idea is that we start the day with Pradeep, who will ‘guide us in a gentle and invigorating’ yoga session in the morning.
Zoobin will then lead us in the creative dance session and Pradeep will end the day with a meditation.

Zoobin has asked Pradeep to work with us as he believes that in doing so we will gain a lot.

If you are free please join us at Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Taster Day price of only £18 if you’ve never attended previous workshops.

It is the usual timings:
The studio is ours from 10 to allow the first session to run from 10.30.
We usually stop at 12.30 for our lunch.
The second session goes from 1.30 until 3.30.
