The season has returned with a bang. We began with a local derby that’s 136 years old. Our games versus Ystalyfera are generally full of incidents and close finishes. Saturday didn’t disappoint.
Well apart from the result, losing is always disappointing. We can’t sugar coat that, however we can learn from it, particularly a big lesson to the five teenagers who finished the game for us. Seasons are never defined by one game, plenty of fixtures ahead.
The beauty of the derby is that we guarantee each other our biggest gates and biggest bar take of the season. We had a warm welcome and our supporters enjoyed the post match music.
The Youth also had a big game, hosting the very talented Glynneath Youth. Their fortunes on the field were far more favourable, recording an excellent win and giving our young Blues the perfect start.
Great to see the mini and juniors back in action. As we saw yesterday with the two teams we fielded, the pathway is vital for sustaining a solid future. A huge thank you to this season’s Sunday volunteers, your time and effort is hugely appreciated.
Finally congratulations to Ifan and Jack from the U10s and Brody, Carter, Franki, Osian D, Osian S, Samuel and William from the under 11s. They were all presented with their Swansea Valley schools U11s ties on Friday, A double celebration for Samuel, who has also been named captain. Our club is very proud of you all.
