Members of Boldmere Tennis Club have recently been busy raising funds for the lesser-known charity, Mesothelioma UK.
Thanks to generous donations from a mixture of club social events and tournaments followed by a delightful afternoon tea event, an impressive total of £575.00 was raised.
On behalf of its members, the club was proud to present a cheque to Liz Carter in support of Mesothelioma UK, this cheque will shortly be winging its way to the charity.
The donation honours the experience of Liz's daughter, Emily-Jane Scandrett, who was affected by mesothelioma—an aggressive, incurable cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Although preventable, this devastating disease continues to affect families throughout the UK.
The club is proud to support the vital work of Mesothelioma UK and grateful to everyone who contributed to this successful fundraising effort.
Boldmere Tennis Club would like to pay tribute to Emily-Jane Scandrett who worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos and the devastating impact of mesothelioma. Sadly, Emily-Jane passed away on 19 January 2026 after a courageous battle with the disease.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, two young sons, and a wide circle of family and friends who will cherish her memory and continue to be inspired by her determination and advocacy.
Mesothelioma UK is a charity that provides invaluable specialist support and information to people affected by mesothelioma, as well as their families and carers. Its work continues to make a significant difference to those facing this challenging disease.
