Benefits of the clean and press:

* The clean portion trains rapid force production through the hips and legs.

You don’t have to “earn” treats through exercise because food isn’t a moral reward system — it’s part of living, enjoying, socializing, and caring for yourself.

A few reasons this mindset matters:

* Exercise and eating serve different purposes.
Exercise supports strength, cardiovascular health, mobility, mood, sleep, and longevity. Treats can provide pleasure, comfort, celebration, culture, and satisfaction. One does not need to justify the other.

* “Burning off” food can create an unhealthy relationship with both movement and eating.
If every dessert feels like a debt and every workout feels like punishment, exercise becomes transactional instead of something that can feel energizing or enjoyable.

* Bodies need consistent nourishment regardless of activity level.
Your body uses energy simply to keep you alive — breathing, thinking, digesting, regulating temperature, repairing tissue. Rest days still require food.

* Treats are normal.
Restricting and “earning” foods often backfires into guilt, obsession, or overeating later.

* Exercise shouldn’t be punishment for pleasure.
Movement is healthier and more sustainable when it comes from care, enjoyment, stress relief, challenge, or capability — not compensation.

* Move your body because it benefits your life, not because you owe repayment for eating.
