It's going to be another busy weekend here in Stonehaven. Stonehaven Beer Happening kicks off this evening (11th to 13th June), and is in the Baird Park, across the road from the car park, so parking will be difficult over the whole weekend. Associated with that there is also the Sportive Cycling Event on Saturday morning.

Here at the pool our Live Music on Saturday afternoon is with the wonderful Jack McPherson (this is a change to the scheduled Harmonic Tide, and we are very grateful to Jack for stepping in). Our kids entertainment on Sunday afternoon is Jenny's Donkeys (the Donkeys will be on the grass between the Leisure Centre and the Open Air Pool). No donkey rides; just come along to meet them, pet them and have photos with them. We also have the very energetic Shona leading Aqua Zumba on Saturday.

The weather is not being very kind to us yet, but the water in the pool is lovely and warm, and swimming in the rain is still a wonderful experience. 🏊‍♂️

Sunday update.
Apologies for any disappointment caused, but high winds today have meant that the inflatable obstacle course cannot be used as it is not safe.
However, we do have Superman and KPop Demon Hunter with us from 2.00 to 4.00 pm. Come along and get your photos taken with them and interact with them, and of course enjoy our pool, slide, paddling pool etc. No additional charge.

Update - Saturday live music cancelled due to inclement weather.

Are you looking forward to a great weekend? We are!

On Saturday, Stonehaven hosts the Annual Fee'in Market in the Market Square, so we'd love you to pay a visit to the Friends of the Pool stall. You can also head along to enjoy the lovely warm water at the Pool, and take part in Aqua Zumba with Shona, and on Saturday afternoon our Live Music is with Jack McPherson.

Our kids entertainment on Sunday afternoon is with Spider Man and Friends. We have lots of lovely new paddling pool toys for our younger visitors to enjoy too.

Our kids entertainment this afternoon from 2.00 until 4.00 pm is face-painting in the Green Room. No additional charge as the Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Swimming Pool provide this enhancement for your enjoyment. Just pay your normal entry fee and get you face painted - after your swim of course! Pool is open from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm today.

What a fabulous opening day we have had. So many people contributed in different ways, but the joint effort was awesome. Here are some of our photos showing a sample of what was enjoyed today.

Tomorrow (30th May), at 11.00 am, we open the doors for the start of our 2026 Summer Season.
We hope you can come along to enjoy the Gordon Highlanders Pipe Band, see our mascot Splasher the Dolphin, and of course to enjoy a swim in our gorgeous heated pool. We also have Stephen Jackson's Disco with us to play some great tunes until 1.00 pm, and the Swooppee from 1.00 pm until 3.00 pm.
We are delighted to welcome Euan Stewart from Broughty Ferry to cut the ribbon this year. Euan is a multiple medalist in Ice Swimming, and used our cold-water swimming sessions over the winter to get in some training. Euan set 4 world records in the first ever European Ice Swimming Championships in Romania in 2024, and he has gone on to add to his medal haul ever since. Euan has always been an athlete, but he really focused on outdoor swimming after a health scare. Euan has swam for Scotland in the Commonwealth Games in Canada. We will also welcome Councillor Sarah Brown representing Aberdeenshire Council, and Stephen Harris, the chair of the Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Swimming Pool.
Please be aware that TV cameras will be filming throughout the day on Saturday.
This season there is NO BOOKING requirement - except for midnight swims - just pay at the door on arrival. To make this process as straightforward as possible, please have your payment method ready as you get to reception.

The Pool is open at the times advertised regardless of the weather. The only conditions that force closure on safety grounds is thunder and lightning. Swimming in the rain is a wonderful experience - you are wet anyway!
