📣Four members successfully completed BSAC’s Underwater Surveyor course at the weekend. They learned practical fieldwork techniques using transects and quadrats to survey the underwater environment and upload the data to national databases.📐🐚 📝This builds capabilities for the club’s citizen science projects.🔬👩‍🔬 If you fancy diving with a purpose come and join us - divers from any agency are welcome. 🤗

On a glorious sunny Sunday, Janos and Richie completed their final two lessons and officially earned their Ocean Diver qualifications! 🎉🥽

Club members are at the Go Diving Show in Coventry this weekend. 🤿 Saturday saw our Diving Officer contribute to a talk 📣🐟🦞 on diving with a purpose with Project Baseline UK. We stocked up on Sofnolime and acted as a diving mule for cylinder collection. 🤣 Great to catch up with friends from around the country too. Stoney Cove was rather chilly 🌨️🥶 yesterday, and so only the hardiest and most awesomest divers 💪🆒 were to be found. It was great to catchup with Will from Sub-Aqua Club who we met on Clasina in Orkney last year. Also Leicester Underwater Exploration Club - LUEC peeps and Woz! Rebreather testing, a bit of camera practice with video lighting, and some scoot scoot fun were the order of the day. Viz declining now, 9.9m at the Wessex secchi disk, 6°C water.

⛑️🛟🤕Today we ran a Practical Rescue Management skills development course for three club members. This teaches divers how to manage resources during rescue and first aid situations.

Today we simulated incidents including decompression illness, immersion pulmonary oedema, injury with severe blood loss, toxic breathing gas and shock.

We were joined by three volunteers who helped role play the scenarios, in addition to the lead instructor, and our full body manikin (who we call Deadpool).
