LBB was created in 2014 with a passion to bring classical ballet to a wider audience and is all about exploring the dancer in you, whilst enjoying the many beneficial factors that movement brings which is supported by improved body conditioning through classical ballet technique and exercises. Using classical ballet as a core technical structure, Lady Bay Ballets-adult ballet classes can also help improve your joint flexibility, core strength, muscle tone, posture, stamina and confidence. Ballet teacher:- Mrs Cave began her professional training at eleven years old at White Lodge-The Royal Ballet School were she successfully graduated after five years training. All classes at Lady Bay Ballet are delivered by Mrs Cave who is a Registered Royal Academy of Dance Teacher (RAD) (RTS) also attaining a Professional Dancers Teachers Diploma (RAD-PDTD). www.ladybayballet.com

With Rae Piper & Paul Chantry

Join professional dancers and choreographers Rae Piper and Paul Chantry for an exciting three-hour workshop designed to develop technique, artistry, creativity and confidence!

With over 50 years of professional experience between them, Rae and Paul have performed and choreographed extensively across the UK and internationally, including working with the Royal Opera Company, Sadler’s Wells and in the West End.

This workshop brings together the precision of classical ballet with the freedom of contemporary creativity-giving dancers the opportunity to explore not only their technique, but also how they can utilise creativity in dance.

Whilst 3 hours sounds like a huge chunk of time, breaks and breathers will be given!

In technique, you will explore the fusion of classical & neo-classical ballet via a dynamic and liberating class. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to learn a piece of REAL well-known classical ballet repertoire and explore what it takes to embody a character and bring a piece to life! Following on from this, you will get to work with Paul & Rae to learn how ‘real-life’ choreographers create, manipulate and develop new work, through fully guided creative and collaborative tasks.

No choreography experience!

It is FASCINATING to learn how ‘easy’ it is to start developing choreographic ideas once you know how!

One of our favourite things about LBB is that no two dancers journeys to us are the same! Some dancers return after decades away, some have always dreamed of dancing but never got the chance, some have been held back by doubts that they had gone ‘past it’, that they were too unfit, that they didn’t look right, or that ballet just simply wasn’t for them.

We agree! A room full of dancers of all ages, shapes & walks of life who feel welcome & safe enough to let loose, laugh when things don’t quite go to plan, and really give it there all IS inspiring to see & be a part of!

Some things we DON’T care about..

🕺🏼What you wear & if it’s ‘tight enough’(we would much rather you be comfortable and walk through the door, than you not come along because of something as work aroundable as clothing!)

🕺🏼If you have never danced before(that’s why we have beginner class!)

🕺🏼If you can’t do something yet or make mistakes(I would be out of a job if nobody needed to learn anything!)

🕺🏼That you are ‘too old’ to start or return(simply untrue!)

🕺🏼What shape your body is(ballet is for everyBODY)

🕺🏼What method/syllabus you have learnt previously-if any!(Every method has it’s pros & cons, the LBB approach blends methods as we are teaching adult bodies who may have different body structures, limitations & adaptations needed- we’ll help you find your own ballet personality, it’s the fun part!)

🕺🏼If you ask lots of questions(I love a natter and a deep dive into ballet technique, it let’s me nerd out! The BEST classes are where there’s great questioning between students & teacher)

🕺🏼If you have to sit out/observe/adapt some parts of class(ballet can be HARD, learning new things can be HARD- sometimes a breather and a little watch is exactly what we need. Long term injuries/limitations are a thing and we will ALWAYS help you to adapt class if you need us to!)

Due to annoying roadworks in Lady Bay- we have shifted our Wednesday beginner class time slightly for the next few weeks!🚗⏰

Hopefully the fact that it’s now the summer holidays(in theory less people on the roads!), and that there’s some extra wiggle room in the timing after work that it works a little better🤩
