Well done for training in the heat.
We kept in steady; leaning into stretching rather than cardiovascular work

AirCon helped at St Mary's with the little ones.

One unexpected benefit of dodgy knees, early starts and working odd hours? Knowing exactly where the nearest sauna and ice plunge is.

So, if you're wondering where to go, here's PART ONE The ice bath / Sauna establishments. (Part two are the day spa)

A quick disclaimer: These are my own experiences and opinions after visiting these venues.

For some venues, you'll need to bring a towel and, ideally, a second towel for the sauna.

Wherever you go, always pack a pair of sliders and your swimming costume.

This isn't Germany… swimwear is required!

I am no longer a Martial Artist.

As of today I shall refer to myself as a Martial Art-hrit-ist

Over 20years of osteoarthritis has finally worn down the cartilage.

The doctor used fancy terms into his dictophone notes to my GP " Necrosis, Crepitus, Chondromalacia Patella.... Either that.or subtle necromancy to bring them back to life.

Rest in peace (or pieces) my beautiful knees. We shall meet again when one of my clever students grows up and devises a way restore youth to my once nobbly knees.

I used ChatGPT to devise the drama in a photo. I think my knee looks like a thumb!!!

At school karate gave me a hobby. At college Karate gave me a job. At University, Karate gave me a team.

As I entered the Work Place karate became my place to relieve my stress.

16years ago karate become my job (again!!!)

7 years ago my son was born - Karate will be my gift to him.

No matter what- Karate has anchored my life and is my place to go to.

At BDK Karate School, we recognise that every student trains for different reasons.

Some students simply want a fun and active hobby. Others wish to progress through the traditional JKS karate grades and develop a deeper understanding of the art. Some enjoy the challenge of competition and want to test themselves against the best athletes in the country.

As students develop, their goals often change. Children grow older, interests evolve, and training priorities shift. For this reason, our timetable has been designed to provide clear pathways so that every student can find the class that best suits their current goals.
