With the golfing world's eyes on Lahinch this weekend for the Walker Cup, there's a lovely Hollinwell connection to the competition.
Our Attached Professional, Alex Fitzpatrick, is a two-time Walker Cup player, representing GB&I in 2019 and 2021. His older brother Matt, who won the Boys' Amateur Championship here at Hollinwell in 2012, represented the side six years earlier, in 2013.
Remarkably, the Fitzpatricks are one of only five sets of brothers to have both played in the Walker Cup.
Two of the other sibling pairs, John and Conor Gough, as well as Calum and Sandy Scott, have also represented GB&I in the match, each putting in strong performances during the 2024 Brabazon Trophy here at Hollinwell.
A rather nice footnote in the club's long relationship with elite amateur golf.
