Nottingham Moderns RFC A social, yet competitive, amateur rugby club based in Wilford, Nottm. All ages welcome! A great club for all abilities.

Fun social events, interesting people, beer and sometimes even a bit of rugby thrown into the mix! Our First XV competes in the RFU Midlands East (North) division, our Second XV competes in the NLD Pennant Group 2 and our Third XV competes in the NLD Pennant Group 4

The Vets XV play 'competitive friendlies' throughout the year. We cater for all levels of ability, experience and age. So whatever your shape, size or standard, if you'd like to get involved please get in touch.

Moderns returned to action with a pre-season game hosting Newark 2s. With 25 players it was a juggling act to ensure everyone got game time.

Newark scored first with a break out wide. Moderns replied with a well worked driving maul finished by Nick Mapley. Newark went ahead just before the end of the 2nd quarter with a tap penalty & the moderns defence let him run through.

As we approached the final quarter the coaches asked the players to up the tempo in attack & put Newark under pressure with better line speed. We scored two tries through Jake Hancock & Ed Skinner to make the final scoreline 15-12 to the men in red. We tackled well in the final quarter as Newark pushed hard to get the try to get the winning score.

A good start to the season & as always areas to improve. Next up we head to Leamington for our second pre-season game.

Come and join our Colts team for the 2026/27 Season!

Whether you are currently playing at Colts level and looking for a new challenge or want to get into Rugby through an experienced and supportive pathway, Nottingham Moderns RFC Colts is the team for you.

Our pre-season starts on 12th July, and we are hosting an Open Day for new players on 19th July - please contact Head Coach Matt Draper on 07966 513770 for further details.

All our Colts players benefit from:
