Want to see another goal from Tigers u10s in the middle of storm Boelo? Of course you do! Opposition MOTM Reuben with a scorcher with his weaker foot! Great awareness from Ethan with the layoff. And is it even a grassroots video without the Coach's youngest son getting his head in the way of the action? (Though we could blame the camerawoman....)

Poppleton ladies 7 a side team played out their second round of fixtures on Sunday afternoon at a windy Rawcliffe Rec.

Not to be deterred the ladies knuckled down and put in two good performances against Honeyball Warriors and Honeyball Heras, followed by a friendly with Rawcliffe.

Pop took a point in their first fixture with the Warriors seeing out a 0-0 draw, whilst their second fixture ended in a narrow defeat to the Heras 1-2.

Most importantly for the ladies, another great day playing football, making friends and enjoying themselves! Big thank you to Rawcliffe for hosting the fixtures! 🫶🏻

The ladies are still on the look out for a shirt sponsor for their brand new kit - if you think you can help them please get in touch 🧡

Match Report: Poppleton Tigers Under 10s vs Huntington

Storm Boelo couldn’t stop the Tigers! Tamed by a determined group of 8 9 and 10 year olds from Poppleton FC and Huntington this was the only Poppleton FC fixture to go ahead today and what a game it was. Played in testing 50mph gale force winds it turned out to be a terrifically tight unforgettable encounter packed full of resilience smiles and fantastic quality from start to finish.

A huge thanks to Andy at Huntington for working hard to get the game on and spending his morning painting lines in those conditions to make it happen.

Falling behind early on didn't deter the boys as their team spirit and work rate shone through while battling back. Our equaliser came in extraordinary fashion when Daniel lined up a free kick from the half way line and launched a brilliant strike that flew straight into the top corner. Late in the second half Reuben produced a moment of magic to strike an excellent goal from outside the area with his weaker foot!

Player Awards

Tigers Man of the Match: Casey — An outstanding relentless performance driving the team forward and leading by example in tough conditions.

Opposition Man of the Match: Reuben — Recognised by Huntington for a fantastic all round display capped off with that incredible goal.

Wind? What wind? The final whistle brought fantastic celebrations after a heroic performance from every single player. It was a game that will live long in the memory for both sides and one we’ll all remember for some time!

Up the Tigers! 🐅⚽

*Poppleton U13Gs (H) Vs Old Malton U13Gs (A) Match Report*

An 8-2 win for the girls today, an absolute cracker of a game!

Lois K started really well on the wing, making some great dribbling runs down the left, which resulted in her winning a penalty (slotted away by Ellie K). The 1st half was well contested with lots of close offside decisions for both teams. Poppleton played a great organised high line in defence, but Malton equalised from a corner, before Poppleton got a 2nd from a deflection (Lily F). Poppleton went in at halftime 2-1 up.

The 2nd half started well with Ellie K scoring a lovely 2nd solo goal after dribbling from halfway. Some indecision at the back by Poppleton gave Malton an indirect free kick on the edge of our area, resulting in a top corner finish from Malton (3-2). The Poppleton girls rallied and went on a goalscoring frenzy bagging 5 more goals!, with Lilly getting another 2, Lexie T getting her 1st & 2nd for the club and Darcy LS bursting the back of the net with a great angled drive!

Lilly F - 3 goals
Lexie T - 2 goals
Ellie K - 2 goals
Darcy - goal

🧡⚽️ Poppleton Tigers U8s Match Report ⚽️🖤

This week, the Tigers headed over to Millthorpe School to take on Hamilton Panthers Yellow.

We always knew this was going to be one of our toughest challenges of the Autumn League, coming up against a very strong and technically gifted Panthers side.

With plenty of the boys facing school friends, the game was played in fantastic spirits from start to finish. The opening 10 minutes was a really close encounter, with plenty of battling and end-to-end action. The Tigers worked hard and were unlucky not to take the lead after some great attacking play.

Panthers then stepped up another gear and, in the end, proved just too strong for the Tigers. Despite the result, the boys never stopped battling and gave everything they had right until the final whistle.

A special mention to Tom, aka “The Cat”, who pulled off some fantastic saves and once again showed incredible bravery, coming off his line and diving at players’ feet to keep the Tigers in the game.

Every single one of the boys put everything into the game, and there is plenty for us to be proud of.

What really stands out from this game is just how far this group has come. This was the same team the Tigers faced in their very first ever game last season, and the improvement from then to now was there for everyone to see. 👏

There are still plenty of things for us to work on, but we’ll keep battling, keep learning and keep working hard — and we’ll get there!

Well done, Tigers! 🧡⚽️🖤

On to the next one…

Despite the chilly weather and early 8:30am kick-off, the boys were absolutely on fire! 🔥

The teamwork, confidence, defending and finishing were fantastic to watch. What impressed us most was the movement off the ball, creating chances for each other and getting plenty of shots on target. It’s brilliant to see all that hard work in training coming together on match day!

A huge congratulations to William, our Player of the Match! 🏆👏 His work rate was outstanding, getting himself into some brilliant positions and creating plenty of chances. He was so unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, but his effort and determination thoroughly deserved the trophy!

And finally, parents… whatever you fed the boys for breakfast this morning, please make sure you feed them it again next Sunday!

What a fantastic team effort! Well done Panthers, you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves!

🧡⚽

Poppleton Panthers U10 Match Report

Poppleton Panthers produced one of their best performances of the season, with the whole team playing exceptionally well. Their passing, movement, and ability to retain possession allowed them to dominate the majority of the match.
Every area of the team contributed to an excellent all-round performance, from a solid defensive display through to the midfield and attack. The ball was moved confidently from defence, through midfield, and into attacking areas, resulting in some outstanding team play finished by goals from Sonny.

Man of the match awards go to Joey and Harry O for their excellent defensive performances and contributions to the team's success.

A big thank you to Pocklington for being great sports in what was a very fair and competitive match, played in an excellent spirit throughout. Credit also goes to their goalkeeper, who was outstanding and made several impressive saves.
Well done to everyone involved! 👏⚽️

Match Report: Poppleton Tigers Under-10s vs Brooklyn

It was a tough, highly physical encounter for the Tigers today against a strong Brooklyn side, but the lads showed brilliant heart, character and determination from start to finish.

Despite the pressure, there were long periods of fantastic football from the boys. We saw relentless running off the ball, players constantly covering and backing each other up and a real commitment to looking for passes and playing out from the back.

Our teamwork paid off with some superb goals. The Tigers took an early lead following a fantastic assist from Freddie, setting up Alex who finished brilliantly to put us ahead. Later in the second half, another sharp move saw Reuben turn provider, laying off a great ball for Daniel to fire home. The boys kept pushing right to the final whistle, even earning a late penalty—Harvey stepped up with confidence to take it, drawing a great save from the opposition keeper.

Player Awards

Opposition Man of the Match: Daniel — Recognised by Brooklyn for an untiring performance, working endlessly and covering every blade of grass on the pitch.

Tigers Man of the Match: Rufus — A completely dominant performance: marking tightly, making vital defensive interventions, driving forward with purpose and unleashing a couple of great efforts on goal.

The final scoreline certainly didn't reflect the effort, togetherness and quality the boys put out on the pitch today. Nothing proved their spirit more than seeing them straight back out for a spontaneous kick-around together after their post-match hot dogs—reminding us all that at the end of the day, nothing beats kicking a ball around with your mates!

A huge thank you to Dave for refereeing, to Russ and Pavers Shoes for bringing along the giant cheque and to all the parents on the sidelines for your fantastic, non-stop support throughout the morning. Thank you again to our sponsors: Total Sports Limited and Pavers Shoes

We dust ourselves down and go again next week! 🐅⚽
