Mark McCann, former Musselburgh Windsor FC club secretary, has passed away aged 90. McCann was a friend and work colleague of Club President Maurice Wilson, at the Brunton Wire Works in Musselburgh.
When Windsor founder Joe Brown died in 1972, Maurice approached Mr McCann to become club secretary.
On match days, McCann would handwrite a team sheet and pass it to the referee. His other duties include picking up players in his car or arranging transport for players to get them to the match.
He initially ran the U-16βs team with Joeβs son Lawrence Brown but later supported the U-18βs also.
McCann proved to be an invaluable club member and would record meeting minutes at the Woodside Hotel. At the following meeting, he would read out the Minutes to the members present. A pint helped the meeting to flow.
The club would like to express their condolences to the family as we remember him as a quiet, diligent volunteer who helped build the Club we see today.
