Biggest Marathon Training Test Tomorrow AM 📈
Practising all things nutrition, warm up, fuel during and seeing how the body feels, and obviously practising the pace I am going to aim to run in 7 weeks time.
Some might say this is to early to do this, however I feel I’ve had a unbelievable 10 weeks of running and if I can get tomorrow done it’s a massive confidence boost and I can go into the next 6-7 weeks keeping on top of things and start to taper 2-3 weeks out before the race.
If you are a salty sweater like myself, I swear this stuff is the best. I’ve used it for ultras when I’ve not fancied any food, before training, after training, it tastes of nothing which sounds not great however if you have stomach issues it’s absolutely perfect to have, could not recommend it enough.
Keep things simple food wise, I’m no nutritional expert, however, I know for me an Indians isn’t a good idea before a run like this.
Loads of pasta, plain tomato sauce, chicken and cheese, probably have some porridge later or some rice, keep things simple and easy on the stomach!
Morning of the run, I’m going to aim to start at 9am, so bagel will be going in probably between 6-6:30am, workout fuel I will start sipping in the car on the way to the quayside around 7:45-8am, and the gel I will have at 8:45-8:50am. Works for me, very little food knowing I’ve had what I really need the night before, I’d rather feel a little lighter going into it.
Now ideally I would probably want more water but I don’t think there’s any aid stations or people going to be chucking water at is along the quayside so carrying 500ml will do, sip at it during the course, trailing them tablets aswell to see if they help with my ridiculous sweat levels 🤣
Gel every 25 minutes, training the gut at the minute I’ve been slowly moving down from every 40 mins, to 30 mins, now to 25, in the marathon I’m aiming for every 20 mins.
