Another addition to the Melbourne family! 💚 💛

We welcome Gavin to the club as we appoint him to the Revenue Generation Manager role as part of a new RFU scheme to review and support key opportunities for revenue generation at grass roots clubs.

Rugby wise Gavin spent 12 years in the Royal Navy as a physical training instructor playing for HMS Nottingham and HMS Collingwood. Whilst there he launched the Royal Navy Women’s Rugby League Team.

Leaving the Navy, Gavin then played for Rugby Welsh and is currently the Team Manager for Nottingham RFC in the Championship.

A product of our Mini & Junior section, Olly Page embodies everything this club stands for. Rising through the ranks to become Club Captain, he combines exceptional talent with unwavering commitment to the badge.

A highly accomplished player, Olly has tested himself at National League level, represented Notts Academy, and earned representative honours throughout his rugby journey.

Known for his game management, competitive edge, and relentless drive.

Off the field, he’s a respected leader and one of the biggest voices in the changing room, setting standards and inspiring those around him.

Olly, will always lead from the front and will be the perfect captain for the next chapter of our club.

Lastly, we see Tom Barlow move into the role of Head of Mens Rugby having done such a fantastic job developing the senior men’s teams through his role as head coach for the last number of years.

Former professional at Sale, Plymouth, Cornish Pirates and Nottingham to name a few of his past clubs! What he doesn’t know about rugby ain’t worth knowing! A calm head, a strategist and a fantastic coach and bloke. He will undoubtedly not only add real value and direction in his support of developing players but also the coaching family as well. 💚 💛

Sam the Man! Great to welcome back Sam Smith who is appointed Head Coach.

Former professional Sam has played at Burton, Coventry, Birmingham Moseley, Hinckley and Melbourne. After a couple of seasons as Burtons Attack Coach -where last season they had their highest league placement and points scored at Level 5 - Sam is bringing real drive, vision and purpose to the clubs senior men’s environment. Great to have him back and we can’t wait to see the results on the pitch! 💚 💛

Next appointment. It’s great news and a big one, former club captain, Northampton Saint and Moseley player Tom (Woz) Warren.

Tom has significant knowledge of the game which he will bring into his coaching having played for many years professionally and honing his coaching roles through supporting the clubs youth, as well as teaching.

Woz always where’s his heart on his sleeve, is passionate about Melbourne and taking things to the next level. We are absolutely delighted by his appointment and cannot wait to see him on the paddock doing what he loves! 💚 💛

As the new season approaches we are delighted to announce new structures and appointments. Season 2026/2027 will see Melbourne Legend Ian Lucas take up the role of 1XV Team Manager.

Former M&J, player, Senior Men’s Captain, Coach and Chairman he will have plenty of experience to draw upon and drive the standards and environment. 💚 💛
