Yesterday, several of Ashby RFC’s incredible volunteers were recognised by the RFU for their outstanding contribution to the club and everything they do to make rugby happen.

Claire and Dyl Kurpil, Alexandra Hawley and Louise Caller have all played a vital role in creating and developing the ladies’ section at Ashby RFC, helping to make the game more inclusive and opening up opportunities for women across our community.

Their recognition is thoroughly deserved and also shines a light on the importance of every volunteer at the club. Without the time, energy and commitment given by volunteers across all areas of Ashby RFC, there simply wouldn’t be a club.

The nominees also had the opportunity to watch Matt Wood make his inaugural appearance for the Leicestershire senior men’s team - a proud moment and a fitting way to round off a special day for Ashby RFC.

Congratulations to Claire, Dyl, Alexandra and Louise, and hopefully even more of our volunteers will receive the recognition they deserve next year. 🐂🏉♥️

Match report 🏉

Coach Sam:
Ashby headed into Saturday’s T1 fixture determined to secure the win after previously drawing against Leicester Forest earlier in the season. From the first whistle, it was clear Leicester Forest were a very different side to the one they had faced last time, running some excellent lines, carrying hard, and showing just how much they have developed as a team.

The Bullettes responded to the challenge, matching Forest’s intensity with strong communication, organised formations, and relentless energy across the pitch. The game was fiercely contested throughout, with both teams showing great determination and physicality.

The Bullettes however showed that they are a team on the rise and scored 5 magnificent tries to Leicester Forest’s one to finish the ladies season with a win.

Everyone involved with the ladies are extremely proud of the hard work they have put in this season.

1 year ago we had the once in a lifetime experience of taking to the field at the Allianz stadium for T1 Takeover day. The most amazing memories of playing at the home of English Rugby against so many other amazing women! 🐮

Since this we have grown into a T1 and Contact side, gained new players, friends and coaching staff, and won our first games! 🏉

Imagine where we’ll be in another 12 months? 🤯
