🔥🏉1st XV HIGHLIGHTS🏉🔥

10 of the best at home to Reading III. Luke Maundrill getting us going on 9 min with a typical snipe from close range. .gc_2002 adding a second shortly after with some lovely hands down the short side. Number 3 was .g a trademark run up the middle from broken play and great footwork. Next, was one of the scores of the day, direct from the restart, beautiful hands down the left before Cam grabbed his 2nd. 5th try was great forward play finished off by the powerful Charlie Stokes. Tyger grabbed a 2nd from a tap pen, beating most of the Reading team on the way.

Number 7 was the first of captain tries, this one close range but powerful run up the middle nearly taking out the post. 8th and this this time a new name to the club and the score sheet smashing over from close range for his first for the club. 9th try was a wonderful dummy in midfield from the captain to put him free and clear under the posts.

Last try of the day was Kyle Crowe after powerful runs from multiple players in open field before Kyle finished off the interchange under the sticks.

Phew... that was a lot to cover, the team were relentless and dangerous across the park, great result and confidence is sky high for the next game against BSH away.

Phoenix RFC remembers Steve Rafferty

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Steve Rafferty has passed away.

Steve was a huge part of Phoenix Rugby Club for so many years, dedicating an incredible amount of his life to the club and the community around it.

His contribution to Phoenix is reflected in the many roles he held over the decades. He served as Club Captain in 1971/72, 1973/74 and 1977/78, Chairman from 1981 to 1987 and again from 1988 to 1992, before serving as Club President for 18 years between 1995 and 2013.

These are remarkable years of service, but they only tell part of the story. Steve's commitment, time and dedication helped shape the club we know today. All Phoenix members, past and present, owe him a huge debt of gratitude for everything he gave to Phoenix over so many years. Always present on match days, always encouraging past and present players, Steve will be sadly missed.

This weekend, before our men's, women's and junior fixtures, we came together to remember Steve with a minute's applause and silence. It was a small but heartfelt tribute to a man who gave so much to our club and who will always be part of its history.

On behalf of everyone at Phoenix RFC, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Steve's family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Thank you, Steve, for everything you gave to Phoenix. You will never be forgotten.

. ❤️🖤💛
