The Warrior Method

The Warrior Method Training the mind and body for everyday battle. Pre and postnatal fitness specialist with a focus on Mondays 3.30pm - 4.30pm, Highbury Christ Church N5 1SA.

STRONG MIND, STRONG BODY
Each Warrior class includes exercises to strengthen the mind and body, drawing upon ancient techniques, visualisation and the practice of being present. There are 3 types of WARRIOR Method classes:

WARRIORRR MUMS & BABIES
__Repair, Restore & Retrain__
“Adore the body you have now’
The changes the body goes through during pregnancy and birth

are massive. Your pelvic floor and transverse abdominals are weakened and stretched and these must be strengthened before you can ask your body to do more. These classes work the body from the inside out with gentle but effective exercises that repair the muscles, restore strength and retrain the way you move. Bring a mat. Fridays 10am - 11am, Studio One, 237 Caledonian Road N1 1ED

WARRIOR MAX
__Training your mind and body__
“Strong body, stronger mind’
Challenge your body and mind with a combination of bodyweight exercises, natural movement, intensive stretches, mind games and more, to strengthen, tone and flex. Increase your energy and focus your efforts. Tuesdays (alternating) 7.15pm - 8.15pm, Highbury Fields
Wednesdays 7.40pm - 8.40pm, Studio One, 237 Caledonian Road N1 1ED

WARRIOR CIRCUITS

Tuesdays (alternating) 7.15pm - 8.15pm, Highbury Fields

+ S T R I P E S + Boys got some stripes today at training! I’d better watch out - they’ve got more than me now 🙈 Thanks and team for your great kids classes and all the fun challenges you set 😊

They also look like they’re as crap as me at tying their belts 😂

+ O F F I C I A L P A R K R U N N E R + This small creature turned four and randomly decided to do the Junior last week. I didn’t hold much hope since he’s said this in the past and then got “toooooo tired” 10 steps in and given up. Plus, he was wearing Crocs. That well-renowned footwear of athletes.

However, he was a machine! He ran! He walked! He skipped! He pretended I was Doc Oc out to get him! He was fuelled by high-fives and the thrill of me chasing him!

And not once did he ask for a carry.

Now that he’s four, he can get an official time. It was lucky I signed him up on the walk down else - because if you don’t have your barcode to scan, did you even do it?! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔

parkrun is free to join and there’s lots of junior parkruns across the country and beyond. The junior run is for kids aged 4 - 14 years and it’s 2km.

His time was 20:29 which is excellent. What’s more excellent is that he did it with a smile on his face and enjoyed the experience.

+ S U R V I V E D ! + I’ve only ever trained at Apex so it was pretty scary trying out somewhere new. I had a million anxieties running through my head - what if everyone is so much better than me? (They were - and that’s ok!) What if it was too full on and I get utterly smashed?! (That didn’t happen but I had marked my escape route if I needed 😂) etc etc But I’m in Norwich for a few days and reckoned that would be a good opportunity to continue my training. Plus, I’ve somehow put on several kgs (damn you iced matchas and ice cream 🤪) and it’s good for my sanity.

Dear old Google pointed me to and the nogi session was a blast. Instructors were great, the group was friendly and I learned a couple of new moves which I’ll try incorporate into my future rolls 😊

Thank you Helton and team for a great experience!

+ P A R K R U N • P A R K W A L K • C H E E R I N G • H I K E S + The Warrior parkrun tribe had lots of fun on Saturday - from milestones, to parkwalks, to long hikes.

Congrats to Imogen for her 50th parkrun, and to Emma for getting a sub-30 run 🎉 Plus for his parkwalk PB 🤩

The Seven Sisters hike looks absolutely fabulous - anyone here done it?

Hope you’ve all had a fabulous weekend!

+ M I D U P P E R B A C K + Sitting at a desk, feeding your baby, or spending long amounts of time on your phone without moving much can lead to poor posture and tightness and that annoying feeling that you need to stretch it, move it… do something!

That’s likely the rhomboids, my friend. They sit between your shoulder blades and when they’re strong and function, they can help with posture, stabilising your shoulders and any time you need to pull things towards you.

These two exercises can help strengthen this area:
➕ BANDED ROWS TO FACE PULLS
➕ FACE PULLS WITH ROTATION

Try this at home, 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps.
And you don’t have to go crazy with this - a light, low resistance band is best to start with so you can nail the movement and reduce unnecessary strain while you build up strength.

+ P A R K R U N + My tribe were at 3 parkruns this weekend:
➕ - There was sunshine! Lovely to have along for her first parkrun in about 10 years and awesome to see there too. We nailed the jump 🤩
➕ Macquarie Uni parkrun - on the otherside of the world tailwalked and hung out with dinos 🦖
➕ Malahide Castle parkrun - Congrats to Emma for her fastest time this year 🥳 and thanks to Steve for pacing 🏃🏼

parkrun is the only running I’m doing at the moment and it’s my sanity run before I jump into the weekend and the chaos of looking after the kids 🤪

Why do you parkrun?

+ P A R K R U N + It’s only in the last couple of years that I’ve been consistent at parkrun. And I’ve realised why… I was actually writing this post in my head at last Saturday’s 😊

I appreciate it can be intimidating to turn up to something new so if you’re thinking about doing it for the first time, or restarting, or would just like a bunch of people to chat about how the sunshine made the deceptively tiring incline muuuuch harder, drop me a DM 😊

Looking forward to when Andrew can join us again - not only for parkrun, but gymnastics, trampolining and… burpees 😂

+ B A N K H O L I D A Y W E E K E N D P A R K R U N + Sunshine Parkrun’s! A glorious with congrats to Oksana for shaving a minute off her time 🥳 The magic of new trainers!

I did a new parkrun - not just a new one for me, but Walton Promenade parkrun is also pretty new; I was there for its 10th one 😊 Very different to the 5 laps around Highbury Fields - this was a straight and back run along the sea. Glorious! Also crazy that obviously the first person I got chatting to was a Londoner whose local was Highbury Fields 😂
