Biosphere 2 was designed to be a self-sustaining world under glass, a test run for space colonies and a laboratory for understanding our planet's systems. They nailed the oxygen, the water, the soil. But they left out the breeze.

Turns out, trees need to be pushed around. Without wind, they never developed stress wood—the dense internal fibers that tell them, "Stand taller, get thicker, hold tight." They grew fast, weak, and brittle, and then they fell.

Not from rot. Not from disease. From sheer lack of resistance.
