Yes it's true - we have managed to remove a hill for our race! After 40+ years we are introducing a new finish area for the Half Marathon which means you no longer have that uphill race to the finish. We now finish the last 100m nice and flat and as part of this we are introducing a brand new finishing area for all 3 races which means no repeat of bananagate!

Well done to all runners at TCS London Marathon and especially our very own committee member Will who clocked in an impressive time of 4:57! If you have been inspired by today's marathon, why not consider taking part in Run Barns Green which itself was inspired by the very first London Marathon and we started way back in 1982. With 3 adult distance races and kids races too there is something to match all abilities at the south's top rated family running event on Racecheck.

𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 – 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝘂𝗻!

A planning application for 68 homes in our village is currently live with Horsham District Council that would have significant detrimental impact on the village, forever. Whilst we all know there is a need for more housing, this is just in the wrong place.

1️⃣We need as many objections to the building as possible
2️⃣Details are below but you can also head to the Horsham District Council Planning website to make a comment with your objections or send an email.
3️⃣You don’t need to be a local – just someone who values village life and the impact unnecessary building has on the countryside.
4️⃣All comments and emails must be submitted by the end of Thursday 5th February

If the proposed development goes ahead, our mighty little village will become just another mass housing development and lose the charm which also makes Run Barns Green such a popular running event!

Run Barns Green this year was able to donate £30,000 to local organisations and charities as a result of a record-breaking event just a month ago. These donations are to groups that assist us for the event and they cover all ages and multiple sports groups, so they support the whole local community from pre-school to the more mature of us! We donated £2500 to the committee working to save the field opposite the Queens Head pub from development and £5000 to St Catherine's Hospice.
Like many events post Covid, we did go through a period of struggle in late 2023 but with the 2024 and 2025 races, we established new contracts with suppliers, increased our sponsorship levels significantly and through our reputation increased race numbers.
Today we have also received recognition from
Racecheck of our Gold award for the 2025 based on runners’ reviews, rating us with a 4.86 score out of 5 which puts our event as the 10th highest rated event in the UK, and most importantly 2nd in non-profit/volunteer ran events.
None of this year’s success would be possible without the continued support of the village and surrounding area who once a year allow us to run this award winning event. We are also grateful to all the local businesses and schools who support us and allow the race to run through their grounds.
We are taking a little break now, but we are already looking at areas for improvement in 2026!

It went bananas! We are sorry we ran out of bananas on Sunday! In 2024 we ended up with over 1000 bananas left over which were given to a local pig farm, so we reduced the number this year but unfortunately we ran out. Lesson learnt - we will have more in 2026. Our apologies if you missed out - we aim to deliver an exceptional event and this let some of you down.

What a great Run Barns Green yesterday - amazing record number of runners and supporters, and a UK record broken! We raised lots of money for local charities and organisations and registration is now open for Early Bird entries for 2026.
