Cycling Europe CYCLING | TRAVEL | ADVENTURE | PODCAST Andrew P. Sykes is a writer, cyclist, podcaster, filmmaker, speaker and teacher.

He is also a lover of those quirky, humorous travelogues that meander comically from one minor adventure to the next. So writing about a long-distance cycling trip across Europe from southern England to southern Italy seemed the natural thing for him to do once his small-time odyssey was over. The result was 'Crossing Europe on a Bike Called Reggie'. In 2013, he embarked upon a second trip from Gr

eece to Portugal following the Mediterranean coast - 'Along The Med on a Bike Called Reggie' was published in 2014. A third trip was completed in 2015 from the southern tip of Spain (Tarifa) to the northernmost point of Norway (Nordkapp). The book, 'Spain to Norway on a Bike Called Reggie' was published by Hachette/Summersdale in May 2017. Andrew edits a popular cycling website, CyclingEurope.org where you will find more information about his journeys and cycling and travel in general. He also now produces a cycle touring podcast, The Cycling Europe Podcast which is widely available across podcasting platforms. For more details about the man himself, visit apsykes.com. You can see all the pictures from the European cycle journeys on the Cycling Europe on a Bike Called Reggie page. And finally, you can follow the author on Twitter and on Instagram .

The Cycling Europe Podcast: Episode 104: Heinz Stücke / Robert Dudley / Saillink / Chris & Nicky Clark

In episode 104 of The Cycling Europe Podcast, in an interview from episode 024 of the podcast recorded in 2020, the long-distance cyclist Dr. Stephen Fabes talks about meeting the world-recording-breaking cyclist Heinz Stücke who died in July 2026, Robert Dudley argues that it should really be ‘touring on a bicycle’ (as opposed to ‘cycle touring’), Andrew Simons updates us on the future of the Saillink channel crossing boats that featured in episode 091 (and we hear the words of satisfied customer John Metcalfe) and last, but by no means least, Chris and Nicky Clark reflect on their experiences as tandem cycle tourers (or should that be tourers on a bicycle?)....

The Cycling Europe Podcast: Episode 103 – Rob McIvor – What Goes On Tour

In episode 103 of The Cycling Europe Podcast, Rob McIvor discusses his new cycling novel, What Goes on Tour; “In July 1977, Harry Chatham is on the brink of becoming the first British winner of the Tour de France when a crash on a twisting mountain descent ends his life and consigns him to a footnote in sporting history, but decades later…”...

Cycling Europe: Late-Summer Update

I predicted a few weeks agp that it would be a summer of no (long-distance) cycling, and that's certainly turned out to be the case. Today is Sunday 23rd August and there's a week of the school summer holidays left before I return to work as a teacher on September 1st. Much of my summer has been taken up with recording the audiobook versions of the three 'on a Bike Called Reggie' books of course. The first two books - Crossing Europe... and Along The Med... are complete and 55% of Spain to Norway... is also done. It's a shorter book that the others so I'm hoping that tomorrow - my final scheduled day of twelve in the studio - will see us complete the remaining 45% of that book as well. The final book - Le Grand Tour... is going to be recorded over several Fridays in September and October (as I don't work on a Friday)....

Discover insights from this quiet summer of cycling, audiobook recordings, and future cycling adventures on CyclingEurope.org.
