Why should you be massaging your horse?
We get asked this a lot, so here's the science. The Equilibrium Massage Pad was independently tested at Myerscough College over six weeks, comparing treated horses against a control group. The treated horses showed around 46% better back flexibility on the Arch Dip test, a 12cm increase in stride length, and lower heart rates β in other words, more supple, more relaxed and moving better.
In practice it's brilliantly simple. Three intensity settings (low for cool-down or sensitive horses, medium for warm-up and general maintenance, high for those who like it firmer), four massage motors cycling through pulsing, vibration and stroking, and a 30-minute timer that switches it off automatically so you can get on with the yard. It's rechargeable, portable and comes with a bag, battery and charger, plus a two-year guarantee.
When to use it: before riding as part of your warm-up, after riding to aid recovery, on box rest to keep circulation going, at a show after travelling, or on a day off just because they've earned it.
The standard pad fits 14.1β16.1hh (5ft9β6ft3 rugs), and we also stock the XL size. In store at Elwick and on our website now β search "Equilibrium Massage Pad".
