119 days left until my first where I’ll be proudly raising money for !

We’ve made it to the end of WEEK 1 with my fancy new recover from injury plan. There’s a lot to love about the app but a few things I’m not hugely keen on.

Anyway, we press on with the running training and it actually feels like I’m training with a purpose now which is fantastic!

Today should have been a rest day.

But when it’s the 1,000,000th Parkrun weekend, there’s no chance I was staying at home.

So I headed to Markshall Estate Parkrun as part of my build up to the Royal Parks Half Marathon this October. With 120 days to go, every run counts, but so does staying injury free.

I’m still following a run walk strategy while my knee settles down. Last week I was running for 1 minute and walking for 4. This week we’re stepping it up slightly to 1 minute running and 3 minutes walking.

It’s not glamorous and it’s certainly not fast, but that’s one of the things I love about Parkrun. Nobody cares whether you’re chasing a PB, jogging, run walking, or walking the whole thing. Everyone is welcome.

For me, Parkrun has become the perfect way to rebuild fitness, test my knee, and stay consistent without getting carried away.

120 days until my first half marathon in nearly 10 years. One Parkrun at a time.

122 days until the Royal Parks Half Marathon.

Run 2 of the plan and we are still very much in the “do not do anything stupid” phase.

One minute running, two minutes walking, repeat, survive, go home.

It’s not glamorous half marathon training, but coming back from injury probably isn’t supposed to be glamorous.

Right now the goal is simple.

Build the knee back up.
Get the fitness back.
Make it to the start line in one piece.

I ran Royal Parks 10 years ago. This time I’m older, heavier, busier, and actually trying to train properly instead of just winging it.

Injured runner to half marathon runner.

122 days to go.

Parkrun is one of the best things I’ve discovered since starting running just over a year ago!

It’s free, it’s welcoming, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re chasing a PB or walking the whole thing. Everyone is there for the same reason: to get moving and start the weekend right.

As a beginner runner, it’s easy to think everyone else is faster, fitter, and more experienced. The reality is that parkrun is full of people at every stage of their running journey. First timers, couch to 5k graduates, walkers, joggers, club runners, and everything in between. And of course, me, right at the back usually!

Today’s run was a reminder of why I keep coming back.

5 kilometres.
Fresh air.
Friendly faces.
A post run coffee.
And that feeling when you cross the finish line.

If you’ve been thinking about trying parkrun, this is your sign to give it a go.

Have you done a parkrun before? Let me know your home event below.

Running helps but doesn’t eliminate the need for a Chinese

Jokes aside this was actually really helpful and a huge lifesaver both before and after my run. Thanks again!

Parkrun tourist edition at Great Cornard Parkrun today because my usual Parkrun was closed.

Two muddy laps around a busy school site, dodging football and puddles, but we got it done. Zero coughing fits this time so the comeback is on. If you’re a beginner runner, this is your sign to start running and just build consistency week by week. Yes you can just do it! Be part of the regular crowd that shuffles in at 9am on a Saturday

Running a 5k until it’s easy. Back to parkrun.

The day has finally come where I can run more than 100m without collapsing into a coughing fit so, of course, we’re back to parkrun!

It was so nice to be back and getting it done. I was a little bit put out by the extra effort needed BUT progress is very rarely linear, a year ago I would still be in bed and had never even heard of parkrun so that’s still progress in my books.

Anyway, I’ve missed 2-3 weeks of running training so we really need to get some solid runs in if we’ve got any chance of putting a strong time on the board at the Chelmsford half marathon in just 1 months time!

How much did I make from social media in December? Let’s have a look!

Every penny I make from social media from now until 11th of October when I take on the royal parks half marathon is going straight to Tommys Charity who do fantastic work. I am very proud to run for them.
