I am keeping this page open as I am hoping to be able to share some online classes with you in 2026. Here's is a bit about me so you can get to know me better. I've have been in the fitness industry for around 33 years. I started when Lycra leggings, thong leotards, leg warmers and Jane Fonda were all the rage! My journey as an instructor began after the birth of my 3rd child. I'd put on about 5 s
tone and started attending classes at a local club in Chelmsford, Essex to try to get healthier. One particular teacher was an Ex dancer and she would stand at the front of the class on one leg, with her other foot up by her ear, and then ask us to do the same! Needless to say as an overweight new mum I felt intimidated and wondered why I would ever need to be able to do that. That's when I decided to get fit and become a teacher myself. I vowed to only ever teach things that were relevant to everyday life and to make my classes accessible to 'Every-Body'
I took my exercise to music qualification in 1991 when I was 33. At that time I had a 10 year old son a 7 year old daughter and a 3 year old daughter. I started off teaching aerobic style classes, but then Step came along about 6 months later and I knew it would be big, so I purchased 25 steps, a van and a music system and off I went teaching around 20 classes a week in school halls and village halls in the Chelmsford area. When I look back I wonder how on earth I managed to teach all those classes and still look after 3 young children. Over the years I have qualified in lots of different things including Slide, Groove & Stomp FX, Power Chi Yoga, Spinning, Body Pump, Step, Pilates & Bokwa Dance Fitness. My favourite class was always Step but I love teaching Pilates & LBT too. In the early 90's there was only one fitness club in Chelmsford - now I think there's one on every corner! As more clubs opened I moved into teaching for them as well as still doing a few of my own private Pilates classes. I also became studio co-ordinator for the London Wall LA Fitness club when it first opened. This was a busy post and a lot of responsibility looking after a very full programme of classes each week, and making sure the instructors turned up to teach - if not I had to do it myself! I moved on to the Billericay branch to be nearer home when nasty things started happening on the underground in London. We bought an old farmhouse to renovate and moved to Spain in 2006 and I carried on teaching a few classes over there for the Ex-Pats. When building work became difficult to find for my hubby in Spain, Brexit happened and our children started having kids of their own we decided to move back to the UK in 2017 and I started up classes in Halstead. Since coming back I have qualified in Funky Step & Power Bands, I did my Level 3 Diploma in Pilates again in 2019 as the older one had become obsolete, and I also qualified in Fitness Pilates in 2019, I've taken a nutrition course, and a course in how to teach older adults. Never too late to learn something new! We lost my son in 2020 and I had a lot of time off due to lockdowns and trying to deal with such a great loss, but my regular ladies waited for me to be ready to teach again for which I will be forever grateful. Many of my regulars started in 2017 and stayed with me until I retired so they became more like friends and I am going to miss seeing them each week. I am very much of the opinion that if you don't use it you will lose it, and I am a bit obsessed with making sure people stay fit enough to be able to prevent falls, and to help them be able to get back up off the floor if they do happen to fall. When I get going online I will be offering my SeniorFit classes which are designed with a more gentle approach specifically for over 60's. I will show different levels of exercises - sometimes using a sturdy chair so that everyone can do something and not feel left out. I will also do some Pilates mat work classes suitable for all levels as I will show you how to adapt some of the more challenging exercises to suit different levels of ability/body type etc. It really doesn't matter how old you are, if you are unfit, or what dress size you wear, everyone needs go keep active and we all have to start somewhere! I'm definitely no Skinny Minnie and I'm in my late 60's, so if I can still do it so can you! I hope to see you online very soon in 2026 xx
