TRIPLE TROPHY SUNDAY >>

↔️ What a day it’s been across Lightcliffe Cricket Club:

🏆 Our 3rd XI match may have been abandoned but it means we were confirmed as winners of the Halifax Sunday League Division 1 and received the trophy.

🏆 Our U11s won the Collinson Cup after beating Friarmere CC by 10 runs at Booth CC.

🏆 Our U15s lifted the Bradford Junior Cup, overcoming both the rain and Ilkley CC to win by 83 runs at East Bierley CC.

🏏 Finally, our Over 50s are into the Grey Fox Trophy Plate Final in Scarborough next week after beating Stick of Rhubarb by 73 runs.

Thanks to everyone for their incredible support around Yorkshire today, and congratulations to our players - young and not so young - for their amazing achievements 💪

It’s been a more successful day for Lightcliffe’s cricketers than the technical team at Play Cricket…

🏏 A brilliant win for the 1st XI beating newly promoted Yeadon after dismissing them for 87 as they chased 160. A classy 5-for Yusuf Malik, 2 for debutant Sam Walker and 1 each for Jordan Pickles and Finlay Hill.

🏏 A tense finish at home too as the 2nd XI were beaten but came within 4 runs of Yeadon in an epic chase. Rob Burton’s 50 and Mark Horne’s 23 from 28 nearly got us over the line chasing 237.

Thank you for all the support at home and away.

Tonight, we hosted our final U7s training session of the season and celebrated the success of each of our over 50 Minis who, over the past 18 weeks, have learnt new skills, made new friends and had, we hope, a brilliant time discovering our sport.

None of it would be possible without our brilliant volunteer coaches of Ajay, Bruce, Craig, James and Luke; the support of our older juniors who have helped out and provided inspiration; and, all our parents and families who have been with them week after week. Not forgetting of course ‘label lady’ Helen.

We’re proud of each and every one of them for their efforts through the season and hope to see as many as possible back next year 👏👏👏

⭐ 1ST XI DEBUTS ⭐

Nothing gives us more pride at Lightcliffe than seeing our juniors shine and we’re excited to be able to give another star performer this season their 1st XI debut this weekend.

16-year old leg spinner Sam Walker will be in the team to take on Yeadon CC on Saturday and, playing alongside his game-changing pace bowler dad Andy, it will make for a formidable bowling attack.

It’s a much-deserved call up from the 2nds for Sam, the club’s leading wicket-taker of 2026. Across all matches, he has claimed 74 victims with an incredible five 5-wicket hauls – 56 of those wickets have come for the 2nd XI, a total which means he’s taken a third of the team’s wickets this season.

Sam’s inclusion in the team will see him alongside 17-year old Isaac Morley who made his debut last month, another Lightcliffe junior who has stood out this season as the club’s top run scorer with an outstanding 1,411 runs in 41 games – nearly 1,000 of those coming in senior cricket.

Add in 1st XI keeper Monty Ramsden, also just 16, and it’s a line-up which is packed with Junior Villagers turned Senior Villagers - Jordan Pickles, Yusuf Malik, Finlay Hill, George Leach, Leo Flanagan and, of course, club captain Alex Stead.

It’s something to be very proud of as a club 💛❤️

🙏 THANK YOU HASAN 🙏

Our overseas player Hasan Raza has returned to Pakistan after a successful season at Till Carr Lane.

In 17 matches across the past five months, he secured 762 runs for our first campaign back in Division 1, a total which includes seven 50s and one century.

With an average of 58.6, his leadership at the top of the order has proved crucial – as has his performance with the ball.

With 39 wickets and an economy rate of 3.68, his role in the bowling attack has helped us get so many games over the line - his 6-54 in the win against East Bierley undoubtedly one of the highlights.

We’d like to wish Hasan all the best for his domestic summer back home in the weeks and months ahead – we’ll be watching how he gets on closely.

Good luck to Lightcliffe’s 1st XI keeper Monty Ramsden who has been selected to play for Yorkshire’s U18 Academy side against Ireland U19s in a three day fixture starting this morning in York 💪

Monty was also part of the Yorkshire team who have successfully reached the ECB U16 County Cup Final after beating Staffordshire by 12 runs in the semi-final on Sunday. They will now play either Middlesex or Surrey in the Final on 13th September.

COLLINSON CUP FINALS >>

It wasn’t to be today for either our U15s or U18s in their Collinson Cup Finals at Copley CC.

🏏 Our U18s, pictured here, were beaten by just 3 runs by Northowram Fields CC with a thrilling climax to the Final

🏏 Our U15s were beaten by 9 wickets by King Cross CC
