Cycle/Walkway Construction - Update

Work progresses on the construction of the cycle/walkway along the Black Brook boundary, and has now reached a significant point. This week sees the installation of the bridge which will take the cycle/walkway across the River Calder to join with the canal towpath. The bridge sections are being delivered to site on Tuesday and will be temporarily placed on the car park overnight (car parking will still be available for those attending training on Tuesday evening).
On Wednesday an 800 ton crane arrives to lift the bridge sections into place, and the crane leaves the site at the end of the day. Members are asked not to use the car park during the day on either Tuesday or Wednesday as it needs to be kept clear to provide for safe operation by the contractors.

More info on the work to date is available here https://www.eshgroup.co.uk/latest/news/completion-of-piling-works-marks-major-milestone-in-construction-around-elland-and-west-vale/

It's time for Tom!

Tom reviews last weeks derby day wins, previews tomorrow's league games and finishes with his view on the number of points being scored across all levels of rugby union this season.

What do you think? Would you like to see the French bonus point system brought into English rugby?

🚨SENIOR SQUADS FOR TOMORROW🚨

1stXV Away at Sedgley Tigers RUFC 14.30KO

A trip to the Tigers who are sitting at the top of the division with a perfect record. Two debutants in the starting pack with Harry Murphy and Jack Pinder called into the side. There is also a starting spot for Jonny Cole which could prove interesting if brother Luke is selected for the Tigers!
In the backs there is a recall at 9 for Tom Egan and a debut at 15 for Harry Fell. On the bench Josh Beck gets a call up after some impressive performances for the Hawks.

Hawks Home against Bramley Phoenix 3pm KO

First home game for the Hawks in the league. After 3 wins on the road the lads will be looking to make it 4, however discipline needs to improve. Sam Brown returns to the pack and Phil Cadogan joins a rejigged backline. On the bench is the returning Henry Hirst, Ed Sunter and Kieran Baldry.

Senior Fixtures on Saturday

1stXV Away at Sedgley Tigers RUFC 2.30pm KO

A short trip along the M62 sees us face league leaders Sedgley Park. The Tigers have been in rampant form, averaging 57 points per game from their opening six matches. Our defence will need to be right on the money as we look to halt one of the division's most dangerous attacking sides.

Hawks Home V Bramley Phoenix 3pm KO

The Hawks return to North Dean for their first home league fixture of the season after a perfect start on the road, collecting maximum points from each of their opening games. After braving the conditions up at Warley last weekend, the lads will no doubt be looking forward to a return to the famously sunny climate of North Dean.
