Every year we get together to celebrate the life of BRUCE JACK McVITIE who sadly passed away in 2017.
Bruceβs dad is a best friend, team mate and student of Chrisβ - his family are such a huge part of our lives in and out of the gym so we wanted to get together as a team to remember Bruce and show our support.
The first Bruce McVitie open was held in 2018 and after its success we decided to get involved in fundraising for a charity who was there for Bobby, Jackie and their family at the worst time.

Brightest star is a small Scottish charity that in Bobbys words is βa small charity that does big thingsβ
They provide families with invaluable support after the loss of a child.
The charity was created by Arlene Smith after the death of her own son, Jack. She has worked tirelessly to help others and give families a support and network of people who understand what it is like to lose a child.
As a parent, when I read about brightest star designing and funding a family ambulance, I was blown away. This is something I had never had to think about and was shocked to learn that in the event of an emergency transfer, parents would not be able to travel with their child.
These are things families like Arleneβs and Bobbyβs have thought about and have experienced first hand and why Arleneβs charity funded a family ambulance for Glasgow (Β£180,000) and prompted the ambulance service to fund 2 more for the north and the east of Scotland.
Since 2022 our kids teams have raised over Β£17,000. ππ½
We are proud to support Brightest star in any way we can and as always canβt thank our local businesses, our gym community, the further BJJ community and everyone else involved in making the day such a success!
