🥋🔥 British Taekwon‑Do Championships — What a Day! 🔥🥋

Yesterday, 6 of our incredible students stepped onto the mats at the British Taekwon‑Do Championships in Worcester, representing — and they rose to the challenge with courage, focus, and true Taekwon‑Do spirit.

For some, it was their first ever tournament.
For others, it meant adapting to a new environment with unfamiliar rules.
But every single one of them showed heart, discipline, and determination.

And their results speak for themselves:

• 1 Gold Medal 🥇
• 1 Silver Medal 🥈
• 4 Bronze Medals 🥉

As I was umpiring throughout the day, I didn’t get to watch all of their performances — but the feedback from the other coaches was outstanding. Their conduct, courtesy, and competitive spirit truly stood out.

This tournament gave them valuable experience, and we’ll be taking everything learned straight into the next event in just a few weeks.

So proud of every one of them.
This is what progress looks like. This is Radford Taekwon‑Do. 👊🔥

🇬🇧🥋 BTC CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 🥋🇬🇧

What a fantastic day for Gassor's Taekwon-Do Wales as 28 students proudly represented our clubs and the UK ITF at the British Taekwon-Do Council (BTC) Championships 2026.

Together, Gassor's achieved an incredible 39 medals! 👏

They won:

🥇 10 Gold medals
🥈 14 Silver medals
🥉 15 Bronze medals

Whilst we are incredibly proud of these results, what made us proudest wasn't the medal tally itself, it was the way our students represented themselves, their teammates, their clubs, and the UK ITF throughout the day. From the youngest competitors to the most experienced, we saw courage, determination, focus, sportsmanship, respect, resilience, and a genuine willingness to challenge themselves and step outside their comfort zones.

Many of our students were experiencing new competition formats, including Team Patterns, Tag Team Sparring, and Point Stop Sparring. It was wonderful to watch them embrace these challenges with confidence, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.

Perhaps most importantly, we saw progress. We saw students who have worked hard to overcome previous disappointments return stronger and more confident. We saw competitors trusting their training, applying lessons they have learned, and demonstrating significant improvements in both performance and self-belief.

We also saw teammates encouraging one another, celebrating each other's successes, and supporting one another through the challenges. Those moments are every bit as important as the medals themselves and reflect the values we strive to develop within our clubs.

To those who didn't come home with a medal this time, please remember that competition success is about far more than standing on the podium. Every competition provides valuable experience, lessons, and opportunities for growth. As we always say, we never lose, we learn. We look forward to seeing you take those lessons forward and continue your journey with even greater confidence and determination.

A huge thank you to our coaches, instructors, parents, families, and supporters, whose hard work and dedication helped make the day such a success.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising and running the BTC Championships. From the officials, umpires, event staff, volunteers, and organisers behind the scenes, to those working on the day itself, your efforts helped create a great competition experience for competitors from many different clubs and Taekwon-Do organisations.

Most importantly, thank you to our students. Whether you came home with a medal, a personal achievement, a valuable lesson, or simply memories of a fantastic day, you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. You represented Gassor's Taekwon-Do Wales and the UK ITF with pride, professionalism, humility, and respect, and you did yourselves, your families, and your clubs proud.

The future is looking very bright indeed, and we are already looking forward to the UK ITF South East Regional Championships in two weeks' time.

During half term, and even in yesterday’s very warm weather, there was no slowing down for UK ITF - Gassor’s Taekwon-Do Wales instructors ☀️🥋🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Our instructors successfully completed their mandatory Instructor Revalidation Course with the British Taekwon-Do Council (BTC). This is required every three years to maintain BTC instructor status and ensure continued compliance with national standards.

As part of this process, safeguarding qualifications, DBS certification, policies, procedures, coaching standards, and club structures are all carefully reviewed to ensure we continue operating safely, professionally, and in line with governing body requirements.

We feel it’s important for both students and parents to understand that being an instructor involves far more than simply teaching kicks, punches, patterns, sparring, etc. Behind the scenes, there is a huge level of responsibility, ongoing education, safeguarding awareness, professionalism, and accountability involved in what we do.

As registered instructors under the UK ITF and British Taekwon-Do Council (BTC), we are required to uphold strict standards surrounding:

• Safeguarding
• Inclusion and equality
• Health & safety
• Child protection procedures
• Coaching conduct and professionalism
• Ongoing instructor development and monitoring

This is something we are incredibly proud to be part of, because it helps ensure every student trains within a safe, structured, supportive, and credible environment.

A lot of this work happens quietly in the background, but we wanted to share it because we genuinely believe it matters. Our students deserve the very highest standards possible, and we will always continue striving to provide exactly that.

Thank you, as always, to all of our fantastic students and parents for your continued support, trust, and commitment to us. Your support means everything ❤️🥋

The British Taekwon-Do Council is the national governing body for Taekwon-Do in the UK. If anybody would like to learn more about the role of the British Taekwon-Do Council and the standards required of registered instructors and clubs, please visit:
